W STATE TEAM ASSISTANT COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION Employer Netball WA Reports to West Coast Fever Assistant Coach and High Performance Coach Department West Coast Fever and High Performance Location Based in Perth – State Netball Centre, Wembley Sports Park Position Overview Reporting to the West Coast Fever and High Performance Department the State Team Assistant Coach will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach with the preparation and coaching of the state squad and team selected to compete at the National Netball Championships. The State Team Assistant Coach is employed to work inclusively and collaboratively with relevant internal departments as well as external contractors, West Australian Netball League Coaches and volunteers to ensure the successful achievements of this position’s objectives. Core Responsibilities Accountabilities Development & Overview of Tasks Planning Promote the strategic vision and purposes of Netball WA within the netball and greater Western Australian Communities Assist the Head Coach with the State Team Program Schedule In Liaison with the State Team Head Coach, establish guidelines and responsibilities that will allow the Assistant Coach to maximise their development opportunities and work on competencies that will help when applying for NCAS Coaching Accreditation Assist the coach as required at all squad and team training sessions and at National Netball Championships Attend the squad and team selection process as an observer only (Unless appointed as a selector by Netball WA) Administration Adhere to all Netball WA policies and procedures regarding State Team Program Practical Submit reports as requested by Netball WA and by the due date Attend State Team officials induction, all scheduled team professional Involvement development sessions and a post National Netball Championship review as required Assist the Head Coach in the Fever in Time State Academy Program W STATE TEAM ASSISTANT COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION Key Interactions Attend all Phase Trials and squad training sessions Attend all team training sessions Undertake Assistant Coach role at the National Netball Championships Strategic: West Coast Fever Head Coach GM – West Coast Fever & High Performance GM –Community Netball Operational: Key competencies West Coast Fever & High Performance Department Game Development Department State Team Head Coach State Team Apprentice Coach State Team Manager State Team Physiotherapist State Team Analyst Athlete and Parents Essential Criteria Current Netball WA registration A minimum Current NCAS Intermediate Coaching Accreditation or working toward Experience coaching at a representative level (West Australian Netball League, Develop and Diamond Regional Academy, Academy Cup, or Smarter than Smoking Association Championships) Outstanding organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to meet duties, attendance and report requirements Good appreciation and understanding of the selection of age group netballers and National Netball Championship expectations. Good understanding of Athlete development including all aspects such as physical, social and emotional Ability to work independently and operate effectively as a member of both small and broader teams Commitment to advocacy of Netball WA W STATE TEAM ASSISTANT COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION Commitment to promoting Netball WA’s philosophies and Athlete and team culture Good communication skills both written and oral Current Working with Children Check Hours of work A current “C” class WA driver’s license. The hours required from the State Team Assistant Coach is not specified. It is dependant on the training program established by both Netball WA and the Head Coach. Appointment Term 2-year term with the option of a third year (maximum appointment). Hours of Work The nature of the role will require out of work hours and weekend work inclusive of interstate travel as required. Remuneration State Team Assistant Coaches shall be provided an honorarium of $1,000.00 per annum on completion of the program (including the Program Review).
