CE Topic: MTM May 1st 6:30 – 8:30 PM KP Panorama City classroom 1 & 2 1. 35 people RSVP, about 10 people didn’t show up without notice, the rest canceled within 24 hours, 1 person showed up without RSVP 2. Require members to put down deposit when RSVP to future CE events and received refund at the event 3. Implement this new policy starting CE # 3, will be charging 10 dollar reservation fee that participant will have refunded to them when participant show up at the event 4. Fee may be refunded up till the day RSVP is due 5. Motion Erin, Second by Chris ii. CE # 3 Steve Gray: August: will need to get all the CE material in June iii. CE # 4 Elizabeth Oyekan, possibly Loma Linda pharmacist b. NWI 2012 i. Same venue as last year, make adjustment for the food menu, Nov 14 is the preferred day, check if is available and will need to get a contract. ii. Speaker possible topic: travel medicine, Director at Sunset Inpatient (Dan Erlich), HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis c. Music Festival i. Date: Oct 6, 2012 ii. Concordia high school art center, alternative: Sunland park (underserved area), close to 210/118 freeway. Jonathan resigned, Sunland park may be a better alternative iii. If decided Sunland park: $25/hr w/o admission fee, $60/hr w/admission fee; 10 table and chairs or less = $75, more than 10 tables is $100, no sound equipment iv. v. vi. vii. viii. ix. x. IV. for live music, only radio equipment. Security park not provide and not mandatory, liability insurance via LA city or chamber of commerce. Lucineh and Nikki have worked with city of commerce before. Lucineh need a tax form for snack and water donation Jim Scott can help with band since he’s involved in a band currently. Don’t need any equipment except electricity Publicity would be via radio station and flyers Rani looks into events around the area so we may be able to piggyback instead of doing the publicity by ourselves. Vaccines sources: Lydia (USC student Liaison) and Vahe will look for vaccines USC student: 2 student with 1 preceptor. Need to recruit preceptors. Committed to minimum 10 pharmacist preceptors at all times Services: vaccination, blood pressure, blood sugar, body fat. Lydia will coordinate the students/vaccine goal is 250 vaccine Committee Reports a. Social/CE/Membership Committee i. CE: June 20th, Spark Grill in studio city ii. Residency Western State showcase in Huntington Memorial Hospital 1. 3 sets of programs going on at once, very organized 2. Mitch Pelter consider doing one for next year in San Fernando Area: 6-7 total resident from San Fernando area iii. South Bay Long Beach Chapter: Another Residency Western Show case event on May 10th. iv. San Gabriel chapter is interested in health fair with our chapter v. Annual Hollywood Bowl event: Sat July 14, 2012 Grease sing along 1. 30 tickets last year will do 30 tickets again this year- Chris is in charge vi. Community service: dinner at rescue mission May 29th Tuesday, need volunteer, 3 student from USC and 3 from western and 3 pharmacists 1. Dinner served promptly at 6 PM: volunteer be there at 5: 45 PM 2. After dinner: skin cancer prevention topics (western), USC (topic TBA) 3. Erin have Zach’s café sponsor, waiting for confirmation from Zach’s café for free dinner donation; alternatively: Allow $200 dollar for food motion by Erin, Vahe seconded c.
