SPY WARS RULE BOOK Overall: The game consists of players eliminating their targets while attempting to avoid the players targeting them. Eliminating Your Target A kill must be done so that no other people see you. There is one exception to this rule. If you wear something to disguise your identity, a kill may be made with bystanders present. Using disguises can provide for quite funny antics. Just keep this rule in mind. If you see a citizen, then you can't make a kill unless you are already wearing a mask. Since you can never be sure who is playing, just be careful. If you kill someone with a witness, the kill will not be legitimate. You will still be alive, but so will your victim. Additionally, witnessing Agents may take you on as a target. If your target finds you out while you are making a hit, then he/she has the right to kill you. Plain, simple self-defense. If you are an Agent and you witness a hit, then contact The Director. He will assign you the Agent you witnessed, and you will be authorized to kill her/him as well. Weapon of Choice (a plastic spoon): You eliminate a person by successfully touching them with the scoop side of the spoon on their front or sides (No Back). If the handle touches them it does not count as a successful elimination. Outside Assistance: No one is allowed to eliminate your target but you. Others may ’’take bullets’’ for you, but they cannot actually eliminate anyone. Safe Zones: Safe Zones are areas in which you cannot eliminate or be eliminated by anyone. If someone attempts to eliminate you in a safe zone, please inform him/her that you are in a safe zone and that their “elimination” is invalid. Safe Zones Include: • Places where class is in session (the room/area is only safe as long as a professor or TA is present). You may not eliminate someone 10 minutes or less before their class begins, only just AFTER a class can you eliminate the target. • Player’s living space (exception: if you invite the agent into your room, it is no longer a safe zone). If roommates are on opposite teams the rules of the room are to be decided by the residents living in the room. • Bathrooms • Places of worship • While the target is at work. Thus, an agent at work is also not allowed to eliminate others. • Stairwells (one foot must be on the stairs) • The Assistant Chairman’s room (UC 2130) •The Chairman’s room (UC 2130) Your Target Your target is the person you are currently assigned to eliminate. The target may When you eliminate your target, you will be assigned a new target. When the game begins, you will be sent an e-mail that contains your target’s information (name and email address). You will be given a new target within 24 hours of a valid reported elimination. Your Teammates A fellow agent of your organization will never be your target. You can therefore get to know your fellow team members and agents and use each other for help. Conflicts All conflicts with eliminations must be forwarded to the Chairman. The Chairman and Asst. Chairman will make the final ruling. If necessary, the Chairman and Asst. Chairman will deliberate with the Director of the agency that is responsible for the elimination. Eliminations Once a hit is made, ALL parties involved need to contact The Director by e-mail. The Director will be in contact with you as soon as he receives word of the deceased. For those that have made a kill, come up with a creative story describing the kill. Be creative, The Director likes creativity. Please have respect for the other Agents and the integrity of the game by not talking about the game. Don't tell anyone (except for The Director, of course) who killed you or who your target was. This provides an unfair advantage to certain Agents, and in real life, dead men tell no tales. Remember, people aren't supposed to know who else is playing. Just don't talk about it. Wanted/Bounty Notices The Chairman of the game will issue a bounty or wanted notice for the elimination of an agent if that agent has proven to be a master at his or her craft. If an agent has eliminated 3 of his or her targets in a 7-day span a bounty or wanted notice may be issued for that agent’s elimination to test his or her defensive abilities. A skilled agent will accept this challenge willingly. Signs with a picture of the skilled agent may be posted throughout campus, and an entire agency will have free reign to eliminate that single agent in a 48hour span. If the agent is not eliminated in 48 hours, then the bounty notice will be removed from the agent and normal game play will resume. Burn Notices If an agent has NOT completed a successful elimination in a 7-day span, the Chairman will issue a burn notice to that agent. Once the burn notice has been issued, the agent that has received the notice (via email) will have exactly 48 hours to contact the Chairman and state a case for why the agent should not be eliminated. If the agent fails to contact the Chairman in 48 hours or cannot provide a legitimate case for why the agent should remain in the game then the Chairman will have the power to demand the agent removes him or herself from game play. This is to make sure game play is moving along nicely and at a consistent pace. 8 Ball Rule Directors are NOT allowed to eliminate any agents and therefore cannot be eliminated by other agents. HOWEVER, if and only if, an entire agency has been eliminated the Director of that fallen agency has full power to eliminate the rest of his or her targets of other agencies. But, any agent from any agency can then eliminate that Director immediately. This is the final step in taking down an ENTIRE agency. The Cleaners If any rules are broken, a player is incredibly inactive/nowhere to be seen, or The Director hears any Agent talking about Spy Wars in a public forum, then that Agent may be assigned a Cleaner in order to keep the fair for other players. Cleaners are people hand chosen by the directors that have been assigned special tasks so the game will proceed as he/she wills it. A cleaner is not meant to help a player. He is meant to kill a player. If you are found to be breaking rules, you may be assigned a Cleaner. If you are found to be hiding so that you can "rest" your way to the top (remain safely hidden until such time as most others have been executed), you may be assigned a Cleaner. Don't do this. If you play dirty, have a bad attitude, talk about Spy Wars in a public forum, or tick The Director off, you may be assigned a Cleaner. This all being said, Cleaners will only be used in rare circumstances. Hopefully, they will not be needed. Winning The final team to have at least 1 spy left or their director will be declared the winner! The organization that won will be ruled as victorious at the End of Games Ceremony on the tentative date of Monday, March 16th. Have Fun & Good Luck! Questions or Concerns?
