CAO screens the applicants and allocates appropriate statuses (e.g. Met, Partially Met, Pending,

University via its Faculties gains access to and makes the necessary selection. The CAO then
sends out a notice via sms or correspondence informing applicants of their status.
9.11
The University uses the information available on the CAO data to make the final selection.
In implementing the Policy, the University uses the score points system which is based on the
matriculation results (levels/symbols). The levels/symbols are allocated points that are added and

the total will indicate if the applicant meets the required points and other requirements for that
particular qualification.
9.12
In the event that the minimum school points score achieved are not sufficient, such an applicant
will not be considered.
However, where an applicant is 23 years and above with a senior certificate whose points are
below the required score, such a student qualifies for a mature age exemption certificate and shall
be referred to the faculty for a decision. This information is readily available on the CAO database
and it is up to each Faculty to consider it when making a selection.
