Forensics 25 Course Outline Glenmary School 2013 Instructor: Mrs. K. Eastman Room: 82 Introduction: Forensic Science 25 is designed for students who have completed Science 10 or 14. Content includes the collection and analysis of evidence from crime scenes, the principles of fingerprinting, breathalyzers, polygraphing, and DNA analysis. A major component is an analysis of real crime cases including the Laci Peterson murder, the infamous John Dillinger, the Zodiac killer, the O.J. Simpson case, the Atlanta Child Murders, and the tragic death of Princess Diana.. General Objectives: 1. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of eyewitness accounts and memory. 2. Analyze physical evidence found at a crime scene. 3. Understand basics about blood typing and DNA analysis. 4. Develop an awareness of the use of entomology in CSI. 5. Describe the principles of fire investigations. 6. Students will gain the ability to make informed decisions about further career studies and careers in science.
