Teaching Plan PUSAT PENGAJIAN KEJURUTERAAN KOMPUTER DAN PERHUBUNGAN UNIVERSITI MALAYSIA PERLIS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING EKT 103/3 SEMESTER 2 SESSION 2014/2015 OBJECTIVES At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the basic concept and utilize the technology in electrical engineering. SYNOPSIS This subject is designed to provide the students with the fundamentals and applications of electrical engineering technology; in theory and practice. This course exposes the students to the three phase system, electromagnetism, transformer, and electrical machines. The topics covered include the three phase circuit, the principle and applications of magnetism & electromagnetism, electrical power transformers, AC machines and DC machines. General concepts and basic operation principle for each electrical machine, including their characteristics and performance analysis are also covered in this course. COURSE OUTCOME (CO) CO1: Ability to define and explain the concept of single-phase and three-phase system. CO2: Ability to explain and apply the concept of magnetism and electromagnetism. CO3: Ability to define and explain the fundamental, analyze the operation and application of electrical transformer. CO4: Ability to define and explain the fundamental, compare and analyze the operation and application of ac machines and dc machines with respect to their efficiency, equivalent circuits and losses.
