Precipitation: Part of the Water Cycle. When rain falls down from the sky (liquid water) or when snow, sleet or hail falls down from the sky (solid water). Rain: A kind of precipitation. Liquid water falling from the sky. Ice (hail or sleet): A kind of precipitation. Frozen water which can be in the form of hail or sleet. hail sleet Snow: A kind of precipitation. Frozen water or frozen flakes falling from the sky. Evaporation: Part of the Water Cycle. When the water heats up and turns to water vapor. It rises up into the sky. Condensation: Part of the Water Cycle. When the air cools and condenses up in the sky and forms clouds. Collection or Accumulation: Part of the Water Cycle. When the water soaks into the mountain or runs off into a lake, river or ocean. Cumulus clouds: Large, puffy clouds that change shape and size. Stratus clouds: A cloud that is low in the sky and flat. It covers the sky like a wide blanket. On overcast days I touch the ground and create fog. Cirrus clouds: Clouds high in the sky that creates streaks with thin curly ends. Drought: A time when there is little or no rain Blizzards: A time when there is a lot of wind and large amounts of snow. Tornados: Violent wind storm with strong winds that spin. Hurricanes Storm with heavy rains and wind. They form over warm oceans and move to the land. Flood: When lots of rain falls. There is so much water that it overflows onto land. Thermometer: Instrument used to tell the temperature of the air. Rain gauge: An instrument used to tell amount of rain that have fallen. Weather Vane: Shows the direction the wind is blowing. Thunderstorm: A dangerous storm with heavy rain, thunder and lightning. It is not safe to be outside in a thunderstorm. Water Cycle: The process that water goes through: Evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection. Winter One of the four seasons. The winter weather can cold and snowy. Spring One of the four seasons. The spring weather can be windy and rainy. Summer One of the four seasons. The summer weather can be hot and dry. Fall One of the four seasons. The fall weather can be cool and dry.
