Dear teachers, Thank you to the many on this list who both responded to the UKLO Survey and contacted me via e-mail. Thanks to your responses, and with assistance from Dick Hudson and Sarah Campbell, a new guide for Linguistics Clubs is now available! I have attached it to this message, but if there are any access issues, you can also find the document at http://www.uklo.org/linguistics-clubs. The guide is designed to give you an idea of how Linguistics Clubs are set up in schools across the UK, containing common successes and challenges, and it is aimed at assisting both new and existing clubs. In addition, the guide also contains a small set of sample exercises to assess current ‘levels,’ thereby assisting you in gauging the kind of task difficulty you should aim for in order to get the right balance of support and challenge. As always, your feedback is more than welcome. Please e-mail me at luke.rudge@uwe.ac.uk with any questions or suggestions. I hope you have an excellent summer break, and I wish you the best of luck with your Linguistics Clubs in the new academic year!
