Windy Hill to expand programs and services to older adults in the community
Great things are happening at Windy Hill on the Campus! Since moving onto the Spring Grove
Area School District campus, Windy Hill has experienced tremendous growth. Since October,
we have seen over 100 new members. In April, we realized record numbers for attendance and
meals served. An average of 75 individuals per day participated in our many programs and
services, and an average of 55 per day enjoyed lunch at the center. This growth and progress has
opened up numerous opportunities for the organization.
Recently, the York County Area Agency on Aging offered us the opportunity to upgrade our
contract status from a satellite center to a senior community center beginning July 1st. They
have been impressed with Windy Hill’s growth and have expressed confidence in Windy Hill to
provide additional programs and services to older residents living in the Spring Grove and
Hanover communities. As a result of this contract, Windy Hill will be providing Home
Delivered Meal (HDM) services to needy residents in the area beginning on July 1st. Sometime
in June, the organization will be adding a part-time HDM/Food Services Coordinator Assistant to
its staff. This individual will be given the responsibility of recruiting and training volunteers and
overall coordination of the HDM program. In addition, Windy Hill will be enlisting the
assistance of its members and community residents to provide delivery services for these needy
individuals. The goal is to enlist a generous number of volunteers so services will only be
needed about once a month per volunteer. Meals will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesdays
and Fridays between 10 a.m. and noon. If you are interested in lending a helping hand to a
home-bound resident in our community by volunteering approximately 2 hours per month,
please contact Windy Hill at 225-0733 or at info@windyhillonthecampus.org.
