Old Saybrook, CT 06475 P: (860) 399-6249 F: (860) 399-4688 Boarding Rules and Service Agreement Paperwork Requirements The following paperwork must be completed and submitted before a boarding reservation will be confirmed. A valid credit card on file (Final payment may be credit card (visa/mastercard)check, or cash. Proof of your pet’s current vaccination status from your veterinarian, including a negative fecal test from an outside laboratory (Idexx or Antech). Client Information, Emergency Information, Dog Profile, and signed copies of the Boarding Rules and Service Agreement. Vaccination Requirements The following vaccinations are required before admittance into the Inn at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook: Canine Rabies Vaccine DHPP Vaccine Bordetella Vaccine (every 6 months) Influenza Vaccine 6 months negative fecal Feline Rabies Vaccine FVRCP Vaccine **Negative FELV/FIV Test** 6 months negative fecal A pet may not be admitted within 24 hours of the first administration of a vaccine or if the previous one had expired. Please plan accordingly. Enrollment Screening Every guest admitted to the Inn at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook, must first undergo an enrollment screening to evaluate his/her social skills for the safety of all guests and staff. If a guest is found not to be an ideal candidate for socialization, suggestions will be made from the staff on how to proceed. The staff will continue to evaluate each guest to observe any behavior changes over time. Should a guest become aggressive towards other guests or staff, they will be removed from social situations and further training may be suggested. Medical Conditions: Pets with chronic and stable illness are welcome as guests. You must inform us of your pet's condition and we may require medical records from your veterinarian. Pets with an unstable disease can only be considered after a physical exam by one of our doctors and will incur additional charges for hospitalization/observation if there is a need for an increased level of care. Internal/External Parasites Please remember that parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans. We will alert you to the presence of fleas and ticks on your pet, as they can quickly invade your home, making eradication difficult. If necessary, guests will be treated with Comfortis, an oral flea preventative for a fee. Additionally we will apply a topical flea and tick treatment called Vectra 3D to dogs and Revolution for cats. These products are available for purchase from our hospital. Accepted over the counter products include Advantix (dogs) Age and Sex All guests may be admitted after they are 4 months old. We recommend that all guests over 6 months of age be spayed or neutered. Guests that are intact (and over 6 months old) will be able to enjoy our Day Stay accommodations, but will not be entering our play groups. When admitted for the day, these guests may stay in a private room. One-on-one unleashed playtime with a staff member is included in our Day Stay rates. We do not board pets unless they are 4 months old. All pets must have completed their vaccine series and be in compliance with AAHA vaccination protocols. Personal Belongings The Inn provides bedding, bowls, and toys for our overnight guests. If you wish to bring some of your pet’s belongings, please understand that Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook Inn will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items. For the safety of your pet, all outside toys will be subject to approval. Food and Medication As many dogs are sensitive to dietary changes, we encourage owners to bring their pet’s own food. We ask that you bring enough food for your pet’s entire stay. If you choose not to bring your pet’s food or if you forget, we will provide Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat food as it is a diet that is well tolerated by most dogs. All prescription medications must be presented in their original bottles. We cannot accept loose pills or pills put in food bags. Medications will be given for an additional charge. Complimentary Bath A complimentary cleansing bath, pedicure, and ear cleaning will be performed on pets staying 5 or more days. This is a basic bath, does not include grooming services. Grooming services may be added on for an additional fee. Please advise the staff of this request. Holiday Reservations We encourage guests to make holiday reservations early as demand is high. We ask for 7 days prior notice for cancellations of these holiday reservations so we can accommodate other guests. Cancellations made within 72 hours of holiday rate days will result in a charge equal to half of the full reservation fee. Hours Guest check-ins and check-outs are available during our normal business hours as listed below. Monday-Friday: 8am-4:30pm Saturday: 8am-4pm NO SUNDAY PICK UPS OR DROP Late Pick-Up Charges Late pick-up fees for overnight guests: For overnight guests that check-out after 12:00pm (excluding Sundays), a half-day charge per guest will be assessed. For overnight guests that are not picked up before closing time on their scheduled departure day, an additional overnight stay charge will be assessed. Late pick-up fees for daycare guests: Any daycare guests that are not picked up before closing time (see times above) will be admitted for an overnight stay for which the client will be charged. An animal left more than five days past the agreed pickup date will be considered abandoned. In accordance with the Connecticut statutes regarding abandoned animals a letter will be sent to the last known address of the owner. Ten days after receipt of the letter the animal will be turned over to an animal rescue. The owner will be responsible for all charges incurred including any attorney, court, and processing fees. Sec. 20-205a. Disposition of abandoned animals. Any veterinarian may dispose of any animal abandoned in his establishment, provided he shall give notice of his intention to do so to the owner at his last-known address by registered or certified mail, return receipt requested, and shall allow a period of fifteen days to elapse after the receipt is returned before disposing of such animal; but, if the owner cannot be located at such address, the veterinarian shall give such notice by publication in a newspaper having a circulation in the town in which such owner was last known to reside, and shall allow a period of fifteen days to elapse after such publication before disposing of such animal. Cancellations Reservations lasting longer than 7 days or holiday stays require a 50% deposit at the time of scheduling. -We ask for 24 hours’ notice when cancelling a reservation during non-holiday rate days. - For extended stay reservations for 7 days or more, please contact us at least 72 hours in advance if you wish to cancel. -As stated above, for holidays, we request a 7 days’ notice so that we may accommodate other guests if possible. -Cancellations made within 72 hours of holiday rate days or extended stays (7 or more days) will result in a charge equal to half of the full reservation fee. Media Usage The Inn and Spa at Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook will, at times, take photographs and/or videos of our guests to share. The owner consents to the use of all photographs and videos of their pet taken while at the Inn and Spa in any of our promotional materials and compensation is not provided. These may include, but are not limited to, publications, advertisements, Facebook, and Animal Hospital of Old Saybrook website.
