RUTLAND MINI MAKER FAIRE 2015 August 1, 2015 #1 3D Printing I have a MendelMax v3 3D Printer that I can have running for demonstration, and possibly give away some prints depending on time. Christopher Baker, chrisjbaker@gmail.com #2 Neshobe Creekside Innovations, SuperNaturals I will be providing a presentation of realistic fly fishing patterns, most of which are exact replicas of actual streamside insects (dragonflies, damselflies, craneflies, spiders, etc.). I have various methods of display, but people seem drawn to seeing insects resting on river stones, driftwood, reeds and cattails, thus depicting a natural setting at water’s edge. I use traditional fly tying techniques, but utilize nontraditional as well as standard fly tying materials. My fly patterns, which I have labeled "SuperNaturals," present the future of the art and craft of fly tying. My display of SuperNaturals is sure to astonish and amaze even the most creative of fly tyers and fly fishermen, and should bring this segment of the craft a little closer to the tying bench for many tyers hungry for the appreciation of the science and art of crafting realistic fly fishing flies. Ronald Lewis, vtpoet@gmail.com #3 Hand Made Knives I design and craft high quality kitchen cutlery. I handcraft all the pieces one at a time in my shop, from the finest materials available. Yet they are sturdy and extremely durable. They are machine washable on gentle. Cat Caves come in two snuggling sizes: Kitten size – 6” x 6” for $35 or Cat size – 8” x 9” for $45. Last year, we split into two teams - the Rattlers and the Rutland Area Technicians (RATS), and we plan to represent Rutland as two teams this year. We build Lego Robots using EV-3 robotics kits and put together realworld improvement projects. In 2014, the Robo-Rattlers won 1st place at the Vermont competition for their project, and the RATS represented Rutland at the Regional Competition. We plan to demonstrate our robots, show what we did and won this past year, and show what we are working on for the 2015 competition. We want to encourage kids and adults to look into the First Lego League program and other similar STEM programs, and hope to continue to grow this important program. I will be displaying some of my sculptures and giving demonstrations on mold making and casting figurines. I reproduce some vintage action figures in plastic resin, but do to the long set up time of the material, I couldn't give a demonstration other than to explain the process and show the molds and the finished pieces. I also cast tin soldiers which is a much shorter process that takes about 10 minutes so an appropriate amount of time to demonstrate. I have plenty of material so I can repeat my demo as often as necessary. I will need electricity.
