PWR 1 Research paper checklist
Paper due: Tuesday, December 6 by class (also uploaded to Coursework)
 Assignment sheet. Did you re-read the assignment sheet to make sure that you fulfill all the
components of the assignment, also looking over the grading criteria to inform your final
revisions?
 Title page. Do you have a separate title page that includes your name, a significant title, and the
date?
 Page numbers. Do you have page numbers on each page? (It’s okay not to have a page number
on the title page and/or the first page)
 Page spacing. Are your pages set in 1.5 or double spacing? Also, feel free to double-side your
pages to save trees if you have the ability to do so.
 Correctness. Did you correct all typos and punctuation, grammar, and usage mistakes?
 Design. Did you polish the design/delivery of your document? (This relates to your ethos as a
writer)
 Visual evidence. If you use visual evidence, tables, charts or other information graphics, do you
have a caption for each one that includes a phrase/sentence that ties the visual into your
argument (i.e. helps the audience see what is important in the visual or how it relates to your
thesis)? Do you cite your source in your caption OR in a separate “Image Sources” section
underneath your works cited/bibliography?
 MLA parenthetical documentation. Do you include appropriate citations in correct MLA
parenthetical documentation form where needed in your paper?
 Works Cited/bibliography. Do you have either a Works Cited or bibliography attached to the
end of your paper? Is it in correct MLA form? Does it list at least TWELVE SOURCES? NOTE: You
do NOT need to include annotations with this final works cited/bibliography or how you found
these texts. Also, please note that you should include direct URLs for your sources UNLESS the
URL is derived from a database search (like LexisNexis, Academic Search Premiere, or
Newsbank).
 Image Sources. Do you have a list of Image Sources, organized by Figure #, following your works
cited or bibliography? Is it in MLA form?
 Cover Memo. Did you follow the assignment instructions and compose (a written or audio/
video) a cover memo for your final research paper? If you composed an audio/video memo,
please e-mail me to confirm how you’re going to get it to me.
 Coursework. Did you upload your final version (including title page and works cited and cover
memo) to your RBA folder on Coursework?
 Slide. Did you upload your Project slide to the “Project Slides” folder in the Materials section of
Coursework? Did you include your thesis statement and your name in the notes section of the
slide? (Please use powerpoint for your slide)
 Staple. Is your print out stapled?
