Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Global Citizenship, Equity and Inclusion Programs, the Global Citizenship & Equity (GC&E)
Learning Advisor will play an important role in supporting faculty and staff to embed global citizenship and equity learning
outcomes in curriculum throughout the college and in the co-curricular student experience. The incumbent will also act as a
direct support to students in the development of digital and print portfolios to highlight their Global Citizenship and Equity skills.
The GC&E Learning Advisor will build capacity in faculty and staff to further support students to leverage their GC&E skills for
employment and professional success. The incumbent will also to integrate experiential education learning, active citizenship
activities rooted in GC&E to deepen the engagement of GC&E concepts and build an inclusive College community. The role
will also participate in research and scholarship activities that work to advance the College’s understanding on the impact of
global citizenship education in the learning environment.
Responsibilities:

Works independently and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative co-curricular
learning initiatives for students to promote active citizenship, increase understanding of GC&E related concepts, and
develop new essential skills

Supports faculty with the development of GC&E curriculum that connects to the program of study, including relevant
content for lesson planning and learning outcomes

Designs, develops and implements GC&E learning resources and action plans as well as materials to support the work
and events of the Centre for GCE&I

Works with students to further develop their personal and professional growth within the context of GC&E skill acquisition,
including identifying experiences and items that exhibit attainment of GC&E learning outcomes, as well as how these
experiences connect to employability and job-readiness

Works collaboratively with staff and faculty to resolve student challenges regarding the portfolio development process and
makes recommendations

Works collaboratively with the Centre for GCE&I team to develop learning initiatives and strategic partnerships with
internal and external stakeholders to support and increase student innovation, entrepreneurship and the equalization of
students’ social and cultural capital

Provides assistance to faculty to develop effective evaluation techniques and criteria for GC&E learning through the
development and delivery of training sessions, facilitated engagement or individual consultation

Delivers introductory portfolio learning orientation sessions and presentations with target program groups, and provides
individual consultations

Tracks and documents activities with students and faculty to contribute to research objectives and to inform improvements
of the portfolio process and embedding of GC&E into the curriculum

Works in collaboration with the GCE&I team to support the development of community and strategic industry partnerships
and collaborations that can inform/advance active citizenship and experiential learning opportunities for students and
employees

Supports the planning and organization of on and off-campus events related to GCE&I

Creates and supports initiatives of the Centre for GCE&I to build capacity of students and employees to create a more
inclusive and equitable College community

Supports the Centre for GCE&I in its research initiatives to assess the impact of its activities on GCE&I skill development
and student success

Develop and deliver GCE&I related training as needed, including pre-departure and post-return workshops for GCELE
participants

Utilizes various digital technology platforms to engage students and faculty in GCE&I skills development and foster global
digital citizenship

Maintains administrative duties as required such as scheduling and tracking student appointments, cohort/class lists,
booking venues and related logistics for events
Qualifications/Experience

Completion of a (4) four year bachelor degree or equivalent from a recognized post-secondary institution in
education/adult education, humanities/social sciences, human services, business ethics, political economy, or other
related discipline

Minimum of (5) five years practical experience in advising, counselling, or client service and support

Minimum of (5) five years’ experience related to teaching and learning approaches to global citizenship,
internationalization, social justice, power, privilege, etc.

A specialized focus/interest in one or more of the following; global citizenship, intercultural learning, internationalization,
social responsibility, public policy, community development, social and cultural change, equity, social entrepreneurship
and/or ethics

Post-graduate qualifications are an asset

Demonstrated understanding and analysis of issues related to global citizenship, equity, inclusion, power and privilege

Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders

Core understanding of equity issues across diverse populations and ability to work with marginalized communities

Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment

Proven planning and organizational skills, effective interpersonal skills for creating positive relationships

Strong written, verbal and communication skills as well as proficiency in digital literacy and computer applications

Demonstrated experience in social entrepreneurship or social innovation is an asset, though not required
