Santa Fe’s Top Spots for Eco Friendly Holiday Shopping
BODY of Santa Fe and other City Different shops carry eco-friendly lines of clothing
produced with fewer chemicals such as pesticides used in most cotton production
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Dec. 13, 2012--Santa Fe, New Mexico: BODY of Santa Fe, a
yoga studio, spa, café and boutique in the heart of the City Different, is known for its
ethos of living chemical free. This holiday season, BODY and other Santa Fe boutiques
are offering opportunities to purchase eco-friendly clothing that makes gift giving
responsible and healthy for loved ones.
In the United States, 1/3 pound of agricultural chemicals are typically used in the
production of a single cotton t-shirt while $2.6 Billion worth of pesticides are used on
cotton production worldwide each year. In California, five of the top nine pesticides
used on cotton are cancer-causing chemicals such as cyanazine, dicofol, naled,
propargite and trifluralin.
“The world is starting to realize that people can wear beautiful and gorgeous designs
without subjecting our bodies and environments to the documented dangers of
pesticides,” said Lorin Parrish, owner of BODY.
This season, shopping in Santa Fe’s eco-friendly boutiques makes gift giving a more
conscious and healthful choice:

world's insecticide market and 11% of sale of global pesticides, making it the most
pesticide-intensive crop grown on the planet. This year, make cleaner choices in your
