Unit #3
Math Course: ______Geometry_____________________
Unit Overview
Students are introduced to the Pythagorean Theorem as a tool for finding the length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle. Translating the
theorem to the standard (x,y) coordinate plane, students establish the distance formula and use it to determine the length of segments and the
coordinates of the midpoints of segments. Students will also identify and write equations for parallel and perpendicular lines using coordinate
geometry.
Disciplinary Core Idea- Coordinate Geometry
