Football (0-0, 0-0 MAC)
Head Coach: Chris Creighton
 Jimmy Williams, the assistant head coach for the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) football team for
the past two seasons, has been named an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, Head Coach
Chris Creighton announced today, Feb. 3. He will serve as the team's defensive line coach. A standout player at
the University of Nebraska, Williams spent 12 seasons in the NFL playing for the Detroit Lions, Minnesota
Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since joining the coaching ranks, he has been a part of two teams that
participated in the Mid-American Conference Championship game as well as another that advanced to the
Division II National Championship game. Williams recently completed a two-year stint at UAB, where he served
as the team's assistant head coach. During the 2013 campaign, he worked directly with the inside linebackers
before also taking over as the defensive coordinator midway through the season. In 2012, Williams coached
the UAB defensive line.
 Chris Simpson, the linebackers coach for the Grand Valley State University football team for the past four
seasons, has been named an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, Head Coach Chris
Creighton announced today, Feb. 6. He will serve as the team's outside linebackers coach. Simpson spent the
past four seasons as linebackers coach for the Lakers. During his time in Allendale, Mich., the team posted a
39-11 record and four Division II playoff victories. He also tutored six All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (GLIAC) performers during that span. Grand Valley closed the 2013 football campaign ranked third
in the final American Football Coaches Association poll. The Lakers advanced to the NCAA DII National
Semifinals for the eighth time after knocking off undefeated and No. 3 ranked Colorado State UniversityPueblo.
 Jay Peterson, a former assistant coach at three NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools, returns for his
second tour as an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, Head Coach Chris Creighton
announced today, Feb. 6. He will serve as the team's running backs coach. A standout running back at Miami
University, Peterson has 29 years of coaching experience at the professional, collegiate and high school levels.
Peterson previously spent five years in Ypsilanti, when he served as the defensive coordinator and linebackers
coach from 2004-08, while also holding the title of assistant head coach during the 2007 and 2008 seasons.
Peterson recently completed a three year stretch as an assistant coach at Mid-American Conference member
Miami. He served the final two seasons as the RedHawks' defensive coordinator while also coaching the team's
linebackers.
 Taylor Stubblefield, the wide receivers coach for the Wake Forest University football team last season, has
been named an assistant football coach at Eastern Michigan University, Head Coach Chris Creighton
announced today, Feb. 6. He will serve as the team's wide receivers coach. One of the most prolific wide
receivers in NCAA history, Stubblefield returns for his second tour of duty in Ypsilanti. He was a graduate
assistant working with the receivers at EMU in 2008. In the 56-52 victory over Central Michigan University that
season, the Eagles rolled up a school record for offensive plays with 105 for 610 total yards.
 Just 54 days after being named the 37th head football coach in Eastern Michigan University history, Chris
Creighton announced his first recruiting class Wednesday, Feb. 5, as part of the National Letter of Intent
Signing Day. Creighton, named to the head coaching position Dec. 11, 2013, wasted little time putting
together a coaching staff to hit the recruiting trail in late December and January, and the brevity paid off in an
outstanding group of 17 recruits signing national letters of intent to join the Eagles in 2014. The largest group
of Eagle newcomers - nine - are from the state of Michigan, but EMU coaches fanned out across the nation for
this class with the states of Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio also represented. The nine signees
from the Great Lakes State are the most by the Eagles since inking 13 student-athletes to NLIs in 2007. The
overall class exhibits quite a bit of variety as the Eagles will welcome student-athletes at six different positions,
including five offensive linemen, four defensive backs, three linebackers, two defensive linemen, two running
backs and a wide receiver.
