Event Overview

Volunteer Capitol Hill - established in 2013 by the Old Naval Hospital Foundation to celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by Nicky and Steve Cymrot to the Capitol Hill community over a period of forty years - is an annual event designed to showcase a wide variety of opportunities for volunteer service. It benefits Capitol Hill-based* nonprofit organizations by helping them recruit potential volunteers as well as network with other nonprofits, and it benefits members of the community by helping them match their skills and interests to the needs of the organizations. VCH 2015 was a great success, with 40 organizations and an estimated 400 community members participating.

Volunteer Capitol Hill 2016 - held at Hill Center on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. - will be a festive event with food and entertainment. Space is limited, so please complete and return the attached application as soon as possible if your organization meets the requirements outlined below and would like to participate. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 4, 2016 .

Applicants will be notified regarding the status of their application by Friday, March 11.

Expectations of Participating Organizations

Participating organizations must be Capitol-Hill based* nonprofits and commit to:

 Reach out to their constituents to help promote Volunteer Capitol Hill event;

Staff the event with at least one representative for the duration;

Provide printed materials at the event that define their organization’s mission, volunteer opportunities, and roles of prospective volunteers, along with a volunteer signup form;

Follow-up with prospective volunteers within one month after event.

Commitment to Participating Organizations

Hill Center will provide:

Extensive marketing/publicity to recruit potential volunteers to attend event;

A printed program listing participating organizations and event sponsors;

A well-staffed, accessible facility; table for display and two chairs; area for networking among participants;

Entertainment and refreshments.
