For over 50 years, award-winning Glencairn Gardens has displayed nature’s finest colors, textures,
and shapes. The newly expanded 11 acre garden includes a Veterans Garden, showcase gardens,
tiered fountains, ponds, boardwalks, a performance stage and beautiful flower-filled walkways.
Visitors can see azaleas, dogwoods, wisteria, crape myrtles, camellias, annuals, hardwood trees and
more.
Winthrop Lake Area Recreational and Research Complex (1 mile)

Many of the recreational opportunities afforded the general public are located at the east
campus Lake Area Recreational and Research Complex approximately 1 mile from central campus
off Eden Terrace. The complex comprises the Winthrop Coliseum, Winthrop Lake, and numerous
athletics and recreational fields. The challenging 18-hole disc golf course surrounding the lake and
coliseum has been the site of the U.S. and World Disc Golf championships. A one-mile loop
surrounding the Winthrop Lake is one of approximately five miles of walking and bike trails that
criss-cross the complex and conveniently connect to Rock Hill’s public trails.

This is Rock Hill's state-of-the-art recreational complex where five softball fields and five
multipurpose fields draw happy crowds throughout the year. This 68-acre facility includes a secure
1.5-mile lighted, walking, biking and jogging trail as well as playgrounds and picnic shelters. "Mighty
Casey," a 14-foot bronze replica of fictional hero created by Colorado sculptor Mark Lundeen,
welcomes visitors to Cherry Park. Cherry Park is a popular venue for softball and baseball
tournaments during the warm weather.
Manchester Meadows (4 miles)

This brand new 70 acre park will delight everyone from the avid soccer player or fan to the walking
enthusiast. Manchester Meadows features six regulation and two championship soccer fields,
stadium seating for 1,500, and a Soccer Pavilion with concessions, rest rooms, park offices, and a
multi-purpose meeting space. But, it’s much more than just soccer! The park also provides a large
Lake Pavilion, picnic tables and grills, a playground, and trails for walking or biking. Manchester
Meadows can host a variety of functions -- from a sports tournament to a family reunion or a
corporate meeting. This great new park is adjacent to Manchester Village, one of Rock Hill’s
outstanding shopping and dining areas, located on Dave Lyle Blvd.

Riverwalk is a paved, 2.3-mile winding trail that runs alongside the Catawba River. The entrance is
found behind a new and growing neighborhood making it a great place for a relaxing hike. There are
many places on the trail that you can find wonderful views of the Catawba River. There is a small
boat launch near the trailhead, and there are also a few picnic tables near this area. There are also a
number of small open fields which are perfect for stopping to rest or have a picnic in the grass. This
is also a great place for people to walk their dogs, as there are bag stations along the side of the trail
to encourage people to pick up after their pets. At the end of the trail you will reach a large, old
railroad bridge where you can turn around and go back to the trailhead.

home to over 50 specialty shops including Bath & Body Works, Kay Jewelers, Aeropostale, Claire’s,
Finish Line, Hot Topic, Victoria’s Secret, American Eagle, Yankee Candle, and Showmars.

spacious forests, rambling terrain, shimmering lakes and rolling pastures. This beautiful, pastoral
environment contains 28-acre Lake Haigler, and 36 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.
The greenway is a popular place for picnics and features guided nature tours, two “swinging”
suspension bridges, two historic cabins and kayak and canoe rentals at Lake Haigler.

team, which plays in the International League, is the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox of
the American League. The Knights play at BB&T Ballpark located in Uptown Charlotte.
Kings Mountain State Park (29 miles)

Kings Mountain State Park is a 6,883 acre retreat on the fast-growing Interstate 85 corridor. The
park has two lakes and several streams for fishing and almost 35 miles of hiking and equestrian
trails. The park has a 19th century living history farm and 115 campsites with individual water and
electrical hookups, plus 10 rustic tent sites. Camps Cherokee and York provide for large groups and
feature rustic cabins, a dining hall and bathhouses. A 15-site campground is designated for
equestrian users. Pets must be on a leash or other physical restraint at all times.

The beauty and diversity of Crowders Mountain State Park are best appreciated on its miles of
hiking trails. Hiking trails lined with wildflowers and mountain laurel lead along the ridges and to
the summits of Crowders Mountain and Kings Pinnacle. Other trails are easy promenades
through pastoral surroundings. Circle the lake on a gravel path or view aquatic plants and
animals along a narrow creek. Bring a pair of binoculars and do some bird watching or tote a
camera and capture the beauty of wildflowers in bloom.
