2015 Call for Nominations to the Board of Directors
In accordance with the Bylaws of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) which were revised and approved
by the GPA Board of Directors and Members on November 5, 2010, the GPA Nominating Committee is pleased
to announce the 2015 Call for Nominations for members in good standing to run for election to the Board of
Directors of the Association.
Nomination Period: Nominations will be accepted from June 2, 2015 through July 3, 2015. Any nominations
received after July 3, 2015, will not be considered for the 2015 election.
Criteria for Candidates: As outlined in Article 6 Nomination and Election of Directors, Section 4 of the GPA
bylaws and the Board Assurances, nominees for the 2016 Board of Directors must meet the following criteria:
a. Must have been a member of the Association for a minimum of two (2) years prior to nomination and
have paid dues during that time.
b. Should have demonstrated previous involvement in GPA (involvement is not limited to but can include:
serving on a committee, presenting at a GPA conference, serving as a state representative or chapter
officer, or volunteering during a GPA conference); previous experience in leadership positions within
nonprofit organizations is desirable.
c. Must remain members in good standing if elected as a Director.
d. Shall abide by the Code of Ethics of the Association.
e. Will sign the Board Assurances (attached to this document) indicating their willingness to abide by the
Articles of Incorporation, the bylaws, and all standing rules.
f. Shall work to advance GPA as the authority in the grant field.
g. Shall agree to allocate sufficient time to conduct committee work, prepare and attend Board meetings, and
respond to others in a timely and professional manner.
h. Shall agree to give or get a monetary gift for GPA on an annual basis. Board members are responsible for
raising or giving a minimum of $200 annually.
In addition, the nominee must be able to utilize e-mail and other electronic communication to actively participate
in the administration and operation of the organization, including the election process.
Nominators: Any member in good standing may nominate a member in good standing, including themselves, as
a candidate for the Board of Directors, if the nominee meets the above criteria. The 2015 Nomination Form is
attached.
Nominees: Individuals nominated for the Board of Directors will be contacted by the Nominating Committee and
asked to complete a Nomination Acceptance Questionnaire and Board Assurances which will describe their
qualifications and how they meet the Board of Directors criteria. The completed Nomination Acceptance
Questionnaire and any attachments will need to be returned to the Nominating Committee by 5:00 PM (CDT)
July 24th, 2015. Any nominees not submitting complete information as of that deadline will not be included in
the slate of candidates.
Board Vacancies and Terms: The Board will have four (4) vacancies to fill at the 2015 Annual Meeting. Board
members whose terms are expiring include Danny Blitch, Karen Cassidy, Janeen Gaskins, and Johna Rodgers.
The four (4) candidates receiving the highest number of qualified votes will be elected to four (4) year terms of
office, from 1/1/16 through 12/31/18. Danny Blitch, Karen Cassidy and Janeen Gaskins are eligible to run for a
second term.
