Other Induction Events
Over the rest of this two week period, further sessions regarding dissertation selection,
support and research skills will be offered, most held at the PG School of Law offices in
Lincolns Inn Fields (nr Holborn). You will also have the opportunity to attend vital
group sessions in different legal areas/specialisms, to ask questions of teaching
academics and to receive more detailed syllabus information on modules of interest.
Library induction sessions will also be offered during this period at both the Institute of
Advanced Legal Studies (IALS) and QM Libraries.
Other sessions, intended to compliment your degree, will also be offered during this two
week induction period, in order that you may start your degree with the knowledge and
supporting framework that you need.
The information gathered during this period will allow students to maximise the oneweek "trying out period" at the start of term, which allows students to attend any
LLM/PG Diploma module classes of interest, before deciding which modules they wish
to formally take as part of their LLM/PG Diploma degree and if they wish to do a
General or a specialist LLM/Part Time PG Diploma. PG Diploma in International
Dispute Resolution-Arbitration/Mediation students are limited in terms of modules they
can take. Please contact p.loizou@qmul.ac.uk for further information on this.
Cumberland Lodge residential induction trips (LLM Students only)
During week one of induction, we will take a number of LLM students to a residential
induction at Cumberland Lodge, a seventeenth century house held in the historic and
beautiful setting of Windsor Great Park, Berkshire. Organised and paid for by the School
of Law, students can meet lecturers in an informal atmosphere, as well as getting to
know other students and the administrative support staff who play a vital role during
your studies at the Postgraduate School of Law.
There will be four trips, each staying one night. (Wednesday/Thursday/Friday/Saturday)
Note: As spaces are limited at the Lodge and this trip is extremely popular, we advise
early acceptance of the emailed invitation in the Summer!!! Certain students may
receive priority places but all students are invited to request a place. Successful
candidates will be advised by email and sent joining instructions before arrival at
College.
We will also cover the Induction session: LLM Overview/Module Selection and
Specialisation during these visits.* Therefore, students attending a Cumberland Lodge
trip do NOT have to attend the session held on Wednesday 18th Sept in London.
