Botox Injection How does the treatment work? Botox temporarily reduces the contractions of the muscles that cause wrinkles to appear. By relaxing these muscles, the overlying skin becomes dramatically smoother. Several small Botox® injections are administered directly into these muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkle. A thorough exam before your injection allows your health care provider to determine exactly where those muscles are located. Is Botox safe? Botox is completely safe and generally has few (if any) side effects. In rare cases, side effects like headache, flu-like symptoms or a drooping eyelid are experienced temporarily after receiving the injection. Will there be any downtime? After your Botox treatment is completed, you can resume your normal activities right away. Many clients schedule their Botox treatment during their lunch break and return to work immediately afterwards. Most people should, however, avoid vigorous exercise or lying down for a few hours after their treatment is complete. How long does a Botox treatment last? On average, Botox treatments take maximum effect about two weeks after the injection and continue to last for approximately three months. How does the treatment feel? When receiving a Botox injection, the only pain or discomfort you’ll feel is a slight pin-prick sensation.
