VIRAPUR is a contract research and manufacturing laboratory working in viral and
microbiological systems with a high level of expertise in:




animal virology, virus and antigen production and purification
phage selection, production and purification
virus, virus-like particle (VLP) and phage assay development and
performance
antiviral agent testing
We combine pharmaceutical manufacturing experience with proven flexibility in creating
solutions to complex microbe purification and assay problems. Our large collection of animal
viruses for in vitro screening tests offers the ability to identify viral targets for antiviral
compounds. We have BL2 and BL3 laboratories on site.
VIRAPUR has systems for the growth and purification of phage, animal and insect viruses. We
have generated phage display constructs and are currently developing production and
purification techniques to create pharmaceutical grade therapeutic phage.
VIRAPUR can produce, purify and assess antiviral or antibacterial activity of specific biologics.
Incorporating biologics in viral neutralization assays or other in vitro microbe inhibition assays
can give information about the success of the production process and avidity of the biologic in
the target system.
VIRAPUR is a collaborating team member in a DARPA project to rapidly respond to microbial
threats with broad-spectrum phage-antibody delivery.
