P/T CMS Naming Convention Notes nn = an Arabic numeral. Use one leading zero for 1-9. Folder names have been extended/spelled out for ease of use. All folders and file names should use the same name. Folders should contain only a single unit, which should comprise the same content for all appropriate iterations (pdf, graphics, layout, xml, etc.). Some units will not have corresponding XML (e.g., TOC, title pages). Frontmatter ffirst: to contain any frontmatter before table of contents ftoc: to contain only the main toc fforeword: to contain the foreward fpreface: to contain the main preface fintro: to contain an introduction that exists in front matter fothernn: any other front matter content that does not have a specific name. Can be grouped together or separate, as needed. Use a sequential number to distinguish. Can appear in any order within file sequence. Body cintro: to contain an introduction that exists in body (Arabic numeral) but is not a chapter. snn: a higher-level division, usually a section but can have an alternative label. pnn: a higher-level division, usually a part but can have an alternative label. All parts will be in separate folders/files, even if title-only. cnn: to contain any chapter, unit, etc. cmpnn: to contain a composite file, which consists of an arbitrary number of pages that are not chapters, such as a chunk of an encyclopedic reference. cothernn: any other body section that does not fall into the above categories. Backmatter bothernn: any backmatter element not specifically named below badvert: advertisement bafterword: an afterword bappxnn or bappxl: an appendix.
