The Commission’s core service areas include planning services for seniors, including the four-year comprehensive state plan for senior services, educating the public about issues affecting seniors, and advocating for policies, programs, and services that help older Alaskans maintain a high quality of life and ability to participate meaningfully in their communities. Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Provides day-to-day research and analysis by compiling and analyzing the following: senior relevant data, information, and policy briefs to be used in the preparation of reports, position papers, presentations, and related purposes. Prepares graphs and charts to visually display demographic and health indicator information about the senior population in a meaningful way for reports, position papers, funding applications, and presentations using Excel and Power Point. Provides assistance with writing position papers, developing PowerPoint presentations, reports, and other information for ACoA’s planning, education, and advocacy projects. Prepares and coordinates efforts with staff and others to produce the ACoA newsletter; edits written materials prepared by ACoA staff. Assumes responsibility for design, coordination, and development of the comprehensive Alaska State Plan for Senior Services. Provides support to the Executive Director in the development, coordination, and implementation of activities related to ACoA’s planning projects. Provides staff support for ACoA, DHSS, and Trust Committees and provides related duties as required by the Executive Director. Plan for and organize seminars and training sessions for public members and other departmental staff. 7. Ability to speak and write effectively. 8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental officials at all levels, employees, private organizations, and public members. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in health planning, health sciences, behavioral sciences, social sciences, public health administration, public or business administration, or a closely related field; AND EITHER Two years of professional planning experience in health or social services; OR Two years of professional experience in the administration, management, or development of a public health, health, or social services program.
