Task Question: Investigate how and why channel characteristics vary across your chosen river with distance downstream.
You will complete a fieldwork investigation and final report.
Word limit: Make sure that your final report is within 10% of the 2000-word limit.
The purpose of the investigation is to study how the channel characteristics of the Chrysochou
River change downstream and to examine the factors which affect these variations.
Characteristics:
1Discharge
2Occupied channel width
3Channel depth
4Average velocity
5Channel bed roughness
6Slope angle (gradient)
(no possible measurement of load particle size)

Hypotheses for how the channel characteristics of the Chrysochou River change downstream.
We expected the following characteristics to:
increase downstream
1- Discharge
2- Occupied channel width
3- Channel depth
4- Average velocity
decrease downstream
5- Channel bed roughness
6- Slope angle (gradient)
Hypotheses for why the channel characteristics of the Chrysochou River change downstream
There is a correlation between discharge and variations of the channel characteristics downstream.
Therefore we expect the following to occur from site 1 to site 3: a- positive correlation between discharge and river width and depth b- positive correlation between discharge and velocity
C- negative correlation between discharge and gradient d- negative correlation between discharge and bed roughness
