Analysis and Areas to Improve:

89% of respondents learned about NAC through word of mouth. This confirms data we have collected from other
surveys.
The four most-used words to describe NAC programs were: Fun, friendly, challenging, and practical. This affirms
our mission and indicates we are providing a welcoming atmosphere for students.
97% (37 out of 38) of students would recommend our program to friends. Most of our business is from word of
mouth, so this is consistent with our main source of business.
Most students indicated they were very satisfied, satisfied, or somewhat satisfied with NAC classes (with the
vast majority indicating very satisfied or satisfied). Only 3 were neutral, and no students indicated they were
dissatisfied. Again, this indicates we have a quality program.
Most students indicated they were very satisfied, satisfied, or somewhat satisfied with NAC instructors (with the
vast majority indicating very satisfied or satisfied). Only 3 were neutral, and only 1 somewhat dissatisfied. The
student was dissatisfied by a teacher who was being coached by administration; the teacher left voluntarily after
2 months at NAC. Overall, this data point shows that our teaching staff is strong, capable, and knowledgeable.
By far, students indicated they had improved most in speaking while at NAC, followed by grammar, reading,
writing (all 3 tied), and listening. The lowest responses were for pronunciation, understanding of cultures, use of
technology, strategies, and test-taking skills. We work hard to encourage speaking as much as possible in classes,
and we follow the communicative approach to ensure this happens. These results show that our methods are
working. We may need to make more of a push for our lower-scoring areas. Our themes for the 2014-2015 year
include World Cultures, and many other opportunities for understanding of culture. Perhaps Susie Lenny can also
visit classes to provide pronunciation instruction again. With the introduction of projectors in all classrooms,
teachers will also be encouraged to use technology with students more often.
Only 1 student was transferring to another ESL program in the area, and that was at CU, where she would be
moved into university classes. These results show that we are not losing students to other ESL programs in the
Denver area. Students are sometimes moving to ESL programs in other states; if they stay in the area, it is to
attend college or university or to change their visa. This is very positive news for our business and program.
