As a system-of-systems, the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) needs a C2BMC architecture that exploits the opportunities generated by a distributed, variable set of independently capable systems while at the same time ensuring verifiable Command & Control (C2) functionality and authentication. The architecture is based on mobile agent technology which can be embedded in various components of the BMDS and which carry some local intelligence, while communicating with a centralized controller that orchestrates the agent actions in the system.
