Area-Region Mascot Bid

WHEREAS: Our area-region is majorly composed of the state of Florida, supplemented by
southern Georgia (VSU) and Puerto Rico (UPR), and
WHEREAS: The natural climate of these areas range from humid subtropical to tropical, and
certain interesting and charismatic animals are associated with these climates, and
WHEREAS: Another bid has been or will be presented in the form of a beautiful, majestic
manatee, and
WHEREAS: The manatee is a significant aquatic mammal found in these waters constituting
Area-Region IV, and is considered an endangered species, and
WHEREAS: The manatee has remained a strong, humble, curious creature through all
adversity, and
WHEREAS: General Mark A. Welsh III is a calm, strong, and humble leader, let it be
RESOLVED: That the spirit of Area-Region IV physically manifest as the manatee, and let it
further be
RESOLVED: That this mascot be referred to as Mark the Manatee, in honor of General Welsh.
