Timeline for Animals and their Habitats Thematic Unit This unit is anticipated to take 4 weeks. Students will begin by doing a book walk through the textbook, looking at various pictures and reviewing upcoming topics. Students will be presented with key concepts and vocabulary prior to beginning lesson 1. Vocabulary will be presented with a word splash. Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Animals and Their Habitats Tiger Math Graph Students will review key vocabulary words prior to lesson. Students will review key vocabulary words prior to lesson. Lesson 3 Biomes Students will review key vocabulary words prior to lesson. What are the Earth’s biomes? What are the characteristics of the different biomes? What are the relationships among organisms in a biome? What are the relationships among living and nonliving things in a biome? If time allows, one class period each week will be reserved for students to spend in the computer lab, working on the research for their Adopt an Animal Poster/Research Project.
