Claire is a member of the Fightin’ Texas Class of 2017! She was chosen in the Fall as one of
50 members of Fish Council, the freshman portion of Class Councils (which houses the class officers). She is currently serving as the
External PR Director for all of Class Councils.
This means that she has already worked closely with the executive team of Class Councils, and she has seen personally how the Class President should execute their position. If elected, there would be a seamless transition for Claire into the position, allowing her to get right to work for the Class of 2017!
As Class President, the two most important things that Claire wants to accomplish are increased clarity and communication between the Class of 2017 and the Class President. Claire believes that the entire class should be aware of what is going on within the leadership. A way that she would like to do this is by establishing a bi-weekly email to the Class of 2017, detailing what is happening regarding the class gift, class events, and SGA legislation. Claire wants the Class of
2017 to know that their leadership is accessible, and always available to hear ideas about what can be improved and what is being done correctly. A vital part of being Class President will be to oversee the production of the class event. The class event that Claire would oversee if elected would be Pull Out Day, which she is so passionate about-- what is better than “whoop-ing” for the first time! This excitement for Pull Out Day- combined with the input of Class of 2017 members- can make it one of the most successful yet! Claire will always strive to be a true representative of the Class of 2017, mirroring the ideas and goals of our amazing class. Wouldn’t you like to have a president that you know is eager to hear your ideas and concerns, and simply, a president that you know? That is why The Choice is Claire.
Biography
Born and raised from Houston, Texas, Thomas Maranuk is a sophomore Petroleum Engineer at Texas
A&M. He currently a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity where he serves as chairman of community service. Thomas Maranuk is running for off-campus senate because he always been interested in politics since serving as parliamentarian for his high school student council. Thomas Maranuk looks to give back to the wonderful institution of Texas A&M and hopes to bring innovative ideas to the table. Thanks and
Gig’Em.

My candidacy is based on accountability, innovation and improvement. I believe that senator should be acting in the best interests of their constituents. I will be accountable both financially pushing for fiscal conservatism and accountable to my constituents trying to improve their everyday life at A&M. I believe secondly in being innovative in ways we can better campus. Third thing I believe we have the right programs in place but need to expand on them. As your representative I wish to push for better transportation especially for parking and busing to west Campus.
Howdy, I am Matthew Hidalgo, a sophomore Biology major from San Antonio,
Texas. I was raised in an Aggie family, so the only colors I wore were maroon and white. After attending bonfires, football games, and graduations, I got a great feel for the city and university. The choice to attend Texas A&M was unquestioned.
The people here were why the decision was so easy. I fell in love with the student body, and once I got here, our 2016 class. I’ve gotten involved with giving back to
Texas A&M by joining organizations that provided many opportunities to volunteer. I want to continue to do those things, but hone in on benefitting the
Class of 2016. My love for Texas A&M has grown over the past 20 years and I expect to continue to grow for the rest of my life. Thanks and GIG ‘EM!
As juniors, many of us will be stepping into leadership positions next year. It is our opportunity to become role models for the classes below us and to show them how to exemplify the Texas
A&M Core Values, the most important of which I believe is Selfless Service. As your junior class president, I am completely willing to sacrifice my days, nights, and weekends in order to
- Bridge the gap between Class Councils and students
- Bring organizations together to establish more unified Junior Class Events
- Acquire the funds needed to donate a class gift that your kids would be able to recognize in years to come
How would I accomplish all of these?
I will set up a blog and a Twitter account for sending out weekly updates and for receiving feedback from our classmates. In addition to this, I want to be able to communicate with the class on a more personal level which is why I will hold office hours once a week giving individuals a chance to voice their opinions and concerns.
I will reach out to organizations in hopes of coordinating a major on-campus event that will emphasize class unity rather than just a single organization’s goals. Through events like this, I will organize fundraisers for a class gift to Texas A&M that each and every one of you will have helped achieve.

Howdy! My name is Jake Kobersky and I am a Sophomore Agriculture
Communications and Journalism Major from Weimar, Texas. I am excited to announce my candidacy for re-election for
Class of 2016 President. For my entire life,
I have bled maroon and held a deep love for this university. As a result, I have always felt compelled to get involved and make a difference on campus. Currently, I am a member of Class Councils, MSC Lead, Fish Camp and serve as the Sophomore Class President. I am also a former member of Aggie Experience Council. Texas
A&M is an amazing university and because of the love that I hold for it, I would be honored to serve again as Class of 2016 President. Thanks, Gig 'em and God Bless!
My platform principals focus strongly on tradition and the legacy the Class of 2016 seeks to leave behind
First, I want to initiate programs to further educate students about university traditions. I want to make sure that traditions such as Silver Taps, Muster, and Elephant Walk are still relevant.
Tradition is the lifeblood of this university and the connection that all Aggies have with each other. Tradition can helps to bridge the gap between our past, our present, and our future; and it has a direct impact on our daily lives here on campus.
Secondly, I would like to include the entire Class of 2016 in the class gift selection process.
All too often members of the junior class are ill-informed as to what we are contributing to the university as our class gift. I want to make sure that everyone has a say in the planning process as well as the decision-making process.
Next, in staying along the lines of the class gift, I want to continue to actively fundraise for the Class of 2016’s class gift so that all 8,000 members of the Class of 2016 can feel proud of the legacy we are leaving behind.
Finally, I want to create a greater sense of transparency between the class presidents, student body president, and student senate. If we can work collectively to achieve goals, then we can make a greater impact on this university we think so grand.

Biography
Howdy! Every speaker has his moment. The problem is most of them stretch it into an hour, so I will keep this short. My name is
Danny Lamar and I am a sophomore Supply Chain Management major from Ovilla, Texas running for
Junior Class President. I am a first generation Aggie and I could not have been more excited to come to this illustrious and engaging university. During so far at Texas A&M, I have divided my time amongst the
Corps of Cadets, Project Sunshine, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals as well as being regular member of A&M United Methodist Church. In addition to these extracurricular activities, I have managed to become a Distinguished Student/Dean’s Honor Roll twice in my time at A&M so far. I believe it is now time to broaden my horizons at the university level to finally exemplify my profound passion to the school and more importantly, the students therein. While I have not yet served in Student
Government, I look to the opportunity of leading Texas A&M in any way I can. Gig ‘Em and God Bless.

Leadership is one’s ability to form the coherence and channel the energy of a group towards a single cause for the betterment of the vision or goal set by the group as a whole. In order to achieve this synergetic effect, I believe that one needs to take a stance of servant leadership with his constituents. It is with this style that I hope to lead the Class of 2016 moving forward. The main issue that I see with the current Student Government Association is that it remains too distant from the students. I wish to bring a voice to each person, not to merely have the interest of the class in the forefront of the Student
Government’s policies. I would suggest open forums which students can meet with Senators and the
Executive branch to truly engage each facet of A&M. In addition to this, I would like to further develop the legacy of the class of 2016 to be among the greatest classes in Texas A&M history by encouraging future growth of the B.U.I.L.D. project and more donations towards the class gift. Acts 20:35 reads “… I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” It is with this quote that I encourage the student body to seriously consider each candidate and vote for whom would best serve this university best. Gig
‘Em and God Bless.

Howdy,
My name is Jessica Chandler Sovereen and I am running for Junior Class President 2016. As your
President, I will strive to provide opportunities for you and every Aggie to get the most out of your experience, here at Texas A&M University, by enhancing educational opportunities and supporting improvements in community health. I want to advocate educational programs by promoting lectures, encouraging students to step out of their fields of focus, and by implementing inventive study programs, such as rentable notecards. I believe that we never stop learning, and you never know what information might spark a new found interest. I want to share my boundless passion for education into every member of my Aggie family. Yet, in order to maximize your brainpower, you need a healthy lifestyle. I will promote healthier on-campus dining and later hours, even for those late night munchies. I am equipped with the organizational and leadership skills necessary, making me a qualified candidate for Junior Class
President. So I encourage you, Class of 2016, February 20 th & 21 st , to “GO FOR GOLD” when YOU dunk! Vote for Jessica Chandler Sovereen.
Thanks & Gig ‘Em
