Minority Male Mentoring Program
Summary Report of Coach Evaluation
June 2013
Evaluation Administration
During the month of May 2013, the Academic and Student Services Division of the North
Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) surveyed student participants in the Minority
Male Mentoring Program to evaluate their satisfaction with student-coaching relationships
facilitated by the program. In order to reach as many students possible, the survey was open
through June 19, 2013. The survey received a total of 92 responses from 12 community
colleges. There are 1,612 “self-reported” students participating in Minority Male Mentoring
programs this spring term—only 6% responded.
All responses were completely voluntary and it may be assumed that the majority of respondents
had completed their final exams by mid-May, therefore, not motivated to complete this
survey. The questions were deliberately broad and open-ended in order to solicit the widest
possible range of responses. As a result, the survey yielded a rich variety of opinions and
suggestions that have been of great benefit and will continue to shape program
recommendations.
