SULIVAN PRIMARY SCHOOL Newsletter 12 Friday 11th December What a wonderful time of year …. I am always proud of the children at Sulivan but at this time of year they really do shine! The children in Foundation Stage have delighted us this week with their performance in the Snowmen at Sunset. We watched over eighty children sing beautifully, dance and join in together to tell a special story. The Foundation Stage team have worked incredibly hard to create a special experience for the children and to present to you. I always like to watch the parents’ faces and they were all full of admiration and pride! RE Day – Christmas We held a special RE (religious education) day on Thursday where the children learnt all about the traditions of Christmas around the world. In the classes children were learning about Advent and Year 6 designed and made some traditional Christmas wreaths. Eden Christmas Lunch The children and staff also enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch – roast turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, followed by a tasty Christmas cake and ice cream. I would like to say a special thank you to all our wonderful team who work so hard to prepare the children tasty, nutritional lunches throughout the year, but went the extra mile on Thursday. Next week is a special fun menu for the last week of term with items including Santa’s favourite meat feast pizza, snowy white macaroni cheese, Rudolf’s roast chicken and winter wonderland chocolate cake! Christingle Service We were delighted to be invited to the Christingle Service at St Matthew’s church. It was another special event for our families and the church was packed! William led the service with some helpful additions of a camel and a surprise appearance of a life size Christingle orange! Our Christingle choir performed two carols and received rapturous applause from the audience. Well done to the choir who sang so beautifully. Attendance News The whole school attendance last week was 96.1%. Excellent news for Sulivan, particularly at this time of the year. Well done to the classes who are staying above our school target of 96%. We are looking forward to seeing lots of children attending the 100% disco next Thursday afternoon! 1W 97.1% 3/4R 95.2% 5M 96.7% 1/2G 3/4G 6M 99.3% 95.5% 92.9% 2GJ 99% 3/4W 92.9% 6W 94.5% Next week: TUESDAY 15TH Key Stage 1 and 2 Christmas Concert at 9.15am (babies and toddlers may attend this performance) WEDNESDAY 16TH Key Stage 1 and 2 Christmas Concert at 9.15am and 6pm.
