ENDURANCE AREA QUALIFIER AND CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
& ELIGIBILITY
There will be Area qualifying rides this year. The first 3 teams and the first 3 individuals in
each level at an Area Qualifier will qualify for the Championships, with an additional pro-rata
of one team/individual being allowed for every three successive teams/individuals. (For
example, if an Area Qualifier had nine Open Individuals enter; up to five Open Individuals
could qualify for the Championships). If an individual qualifier is already in a qualifying team,
then the Championship place will move down the line. Members qualifying at one level
may not downgrade to a lower level at the Championships.
The Endurance Committee have the right to invite additional individuals and teams to the
Championships. Members who have successfully completed 3 rides of the appropriate
distance and at the correct speed may also apply to the Committee for an invite to the
Championships. However, if a pony/horse fails the vetting at their qualifying ride for
metabolic reasons, they are not entitled to use the three ride method of qualification
as an alternative.
Placings will be determined by using the Pony Club Performance formula (Appendix
C).
Due to the shortage of prospective qualifying rides, two Areas may share the same date and
venue. In which case separate prizes and qualifications will be given for both Areas.
ELIGIBILITY
Qualification for the Endurance Area Qualifiers

have successfully completed two rides at Level 2 or above, one of them in the current year.
Members need to show proof on their Mastercard that they had completed two rides at Level
2 or above, including one in 2015.
Pony and rider combinations who have been placed 1st - 3rd individually at Level 3 at the
Championships in previous years are not eligible to ride at the Novice Championships.
INTERMEDIATE
To be able to compete at Area Qualifier horses and riders (not necessarily together) must
have successfully completed two rides at Level 3 or above, one of them in the current year.
Members need to show proof on their Mastercard that they had completed two rides at Level
3 or above, including one in 2015.

Championships in previous years are not eligible for the Intermediate Championships.
OPEN
To be able to compete at the Area Qualifier horses and riders (not necessarily together) must
have successfully completed two rides at Level 4 or above, one of them in the current year.
2
Pre-qualifying rides could include local Graded EGB, EGB Pleasure Rides, Hunt Rides,
Charity Rides as long as they are of the correct distance and a responsible Pony Club
Representative supervises the vetting and result. Competitors are reminded that although
some EGB rides are Pleasure Rides they must still get their heart rate taken and the horse
trotted up for soundness, the result of which can be added to their Mastercard.
Riders who are moving age range from Junior to Senior in 2015 are permitted (but not
required) to drop back a Level in order to gain experience riding without an escort.
PLEASE NOTE
All Pony Club Members who enter an EGB ride must have both a Pony Club entry form plus
an EGB entry form (with Pony Club also written on the top right hand corner of the EGB entry
form). Both entry forms must be sent to the EGB Entries Secretary before the closing date.
AREA/CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS
Teams will consist of 3 or 4 riders of the same age (Junior/Senior) and level. Team members
need not ride together. Adult escort riders may not form part of the team for scoring
purposes. Best 3 scores count.
Branches may have more than one team at each level/age.
Teams will usually qualify for the Championships by competing as a team at their Area
Qualifier. However, where this is not possible, then Branches may create a team from
Members who have qualified as individuals at the relevant level at different Area
competitions.
Where there are less than 10 teams in a section, Areas may apply to create a mixed
team of suitably qualified individuals for the Championships.
ADULT SUPERVISION
It is not necessary for an accompanying adult to pay an entry fee at Pony Club run rides.
However, accompanying adults may be asked to pay an entry fee at rides run by other
organisations.
ENTRIES FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Branches whose Team or Individuals have qualified for the Championships must declare
their entries, with an Entry Fee of £40 including medical fee per competitor to The Pony Club,
Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire CV8 2RW via the online entry system or the
following day by post and fax/email if the Area Qualifier is held on or after 24th July 2015.

A Refund of the Entry Fee (less an admin fee of £3.00) will only be given on production of a
Veterinary Certificate or Doctors Note, this will be given up until Monday, 17th August 2015.
After this date no refunds will be issued.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Championships will be held at Cholmondeley Castle (in conjunction with the other Pony
Club disciplines). There is a slight change of route this year which will take you through an
extra 20 km loop over some hilly and tough terrain between the Bolesworth & Harthill Estate,
so your horses and ponies must be fit.
All horses and ponies must have genuinely participated at a minimum of 3 working rallies
since 1st July in the previous year, one of which must be in the current year with a Member
of The Pony Club.
3
All riders entered must be active members of the stated Pony Club Branch or Centre, who
have participated at a minimum of three working rallies with this or their previous
Branch/Centre since 1st July in the previous year, excluding team practices and coaching,
and Rallies must be advertised at least seven days prior to the date of the Rally. Attendance
at camp counts as one working rally. The District Commissioner/Centre Proprietor has
discretion in the case of those who are working. Riders must have been Members of The
Pony Club since at least the 31st January in the current year, except for Members who are
completely new to The Pony Club, who may join up until the 31st March and still be eligible
for Area Competitions and the Championships.
