Student Affairs Senate Minutes August 30, 2011 Callen Conference Center The Student Affairs Senate was called to order Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 1:02 p.m. by Vice President Lindsey Jones. I. II. III. Welcome by Vice President Lindsey Jones. Call to Order Roll Call 29 previous members were present. Members absent: Diane Hawkins, Nolan Andrews and Advisor Peter Armstrong IV. Special Order a. Commuter Caleb Armstrong Katie Wright Kerri Peters Evan Halpain o Ben Shilling spoke favor of Katie. o Clayton Damme spoke in favor of Katie. o Abby Kincanon spoke in favor of Kerri. o Kerri Sanderson spoke in favor of Kerri. o Elizabeth Gabel spoke in favor of Katie. Katie received the majority vote and is the new Commuter Representative. b. Natural Sciences Garrett Janzen Garrett received the majority vote and is the new Natural Sciences Representative. c. Social Sciences Katie Larson Beau Kelly Chelsea Johnson Kerri Peters o Deanna Floe spoke in favor of Chelsea. o Mike Lau spoke in favor of Beau. o Samantha Wessels spoke in favor of Chelsea. o Abby Kincanon spoke in favor of Kerri. o Lacey Adams spoke in favor of Beau. Beau and Chelsea received the majority vote and are the two new Social Science Reps. d. Professional Caleb Armstrong Evan Halpain Caleb and Evan received the majority vote and are the two new Professional Reps. e. Parliamentarian Sam Fisher swore in President Phil Bakken. b. President Phil Bakken swore in Vice President Lindsey Jones. c. Vice President Lindsey Jones swore in the Senators and Executive Board. New Business a. Confirm Sarah Hotovy to the Board of Governors Amanda Miller, Garrett Janzen, and Erin Kautz spoke in favor of Sara. The vote passed. In Favor: 39, Opposed: 0, Abstentions: 1 Announcements a. Karri Sanderson i. Involvement Fair is Wednesday, Aug. 31 from 9 am- 3 pm outside between Smith Curtis & the Student Center ii. Homecoming King & Queen Nominations are due Wed. Sept 7. iii. Lip-Sync registration is available and due next Tuesday 9/6 iv. Phi Kappa Tau representative is on campus. Come to the Center for Student Involvement for more info. v. It is important that members of SAS attend the SAS sponsored events. They are not just for first year students.
