WELLINGTON GOLF REFEREES ASSOCIATION ANNUAL PRESIDENT'S REPORT 2015 Officers: President Vice President Secretary/Treasurer Committee Bill Stratford John Spence Jolene Zink Brian Richmond, Bryan Futter, Julie Murphy, Murray Radford, Terry Bastion - (Nominee of Wellington Golf Inc) First and foremost I would like to acknowledge and thank the members of my executive committee, especially our hardworking Secretary/Treasurer Jolene Zink, for not only does she keep our books and correspondence up to date but has also been very involved assisting with the Rules Course Training and examination marking. Like all good things, we take for granted that Jolene will be around forever as she has held this position for a number of years, but now Jolene wants to move on with other pursuits which she wants to accomplish in her future. It is, therefore, with regret that Jolene has advised me of her pending resignation at the forthcoming AGM. Besides Jolene's pending resignation we do have a couple of vacancies on the WGRA executive committee and we would really appreciate any current members of our association being willing to put their names forward for election onto our committee by filling in the nomination form which you will find attached to our AGM notices etc due out in the very near future (four to five short meetings per year). The 2014 rules courses were held in Waikanae and Shandon and I must thank Julie, Bryan, Brian, Murray, and Jolene for all giving their time and resources in their usual professional manner. For those of you who do not know, during the last four months the good health that Julie Murphy has always enjoyed throughout her life has deteriorated to the extent that it now prohibits her from actively being involved, not only on our committee, but as our very active course organiser and lead examiner. Attendees at the 2015 Rules Course at Shandon this year, will be aware that Julie was not in attendance due to the aforementioned health issues, and that Murray Radford has now been appointed by our committee to step into the role of the WGRA Course Rules Convenor and Examiner accordingly. I wish him and his support team well in their new roles. We are sure all course participants will be in good hands and enjoy the new course formats as they are introduced. We take this opportunity to acknowledge the time and effort Julie has put into the courses over the last 25 years that she has been involved. She has given this time without question and it was her life in some respects, although in recent years when she could not walk the courses she added Croquet to her list of activities. She also had a good/wicked sense of humour running the courses even when participants tested her with their interpretation on The Rules Of Golf! On behalf of all who have attended these courses and members of our committee we wish Julie a swift recovery back to good health and hope that she enjoys her future in the manner she deserves. As usual, I must thank all our active Tournament Referees who are called upon for our annual WGI events, being the Otaki and Duncan Cups Stroke/Match events as well as other WGI events as requested. Included with these, of course, are the NZ Golf events that come to the Wellington province. As always we are short of tournament referees and would like to see more of our qualified referees become involved in active refereeing. If you are interested please contact the undersigned. Again, may I personally and on behalf of the WGRA thank all Members who worked hard for us during the 2014 year. Bill Stratford: President PLEASE SUPPORT THE AGM - WE NEED TO HAVE A QUORUM
