The Institute is particularly keen to encourage applications for scholarships in the following areas: Historical Slavery in the Americas The Abolition of Slavery and the Transition to Freedom Memories, Legacies and Representations of Slavery and Abolition Modern Slavery, Human Rights and Social Justice Applications are sought from suitably-qualified people wishing to pursue research leading to PhD status under the supervision of leading researchers. Applicants will be expected to hold a minimum of a UK upper second class Honours degree, or equivalent, in an appropriate discipline. Each full-time UK/EU PhD Scholarship will include fees at the ‘home/EU' student rate and maintenance (£13,590 in 2012/13) for three years, depending on satisfactory progress. The International PhD Fee bursaries will cover full tuition fees for full-time overseas students for three years, depending on satisfactory progress.
