Unit 10: All Year Long ESOL 1 Unit 10 (Semester 1) Unit Title Duration of Unit: 2-2.5 weeks All Year Long Unit Description: In this unit, students learn basic vocabulary for seasons, months, activities, making things and celebrations. They learn to describe actions and make requests. Students learn to write dates correctly in English, use action verbs in the present tense including the third person singular form and to use the subject pronouns “I”, “you”, “he”, “she”, “we” and “they.” In this unit, students write short narratives or informational texts as well as give short presentations and oral exchanges to tell what people do for different months, seasons and celebrations, to ask someone to do something and to describe celebrations. Standards: ELP.9-12.S1.L1- Students use a very limited set of strategies to identify a few key words and phrases in oral communications and simple oral and written texts. ELP.9-12.S2.L1- Students participate in short conversational and written exchanges on familiar topics, presenting information and responding to simple yes/no questions and some wh- questions.
