Wine Importation Procedure
Persons or Enterprises Eligible to apply for Permission to Import
1. Must be a local enterprise or company which is authorized to do trading and dealership.
2. Must have company registration.
3. Must be Registered as an Importer and Exporter
To get the permission of limited importation of wine –
1. Apply the import registration card to Directorate of Trade [MOC]
2. Apply the import license to Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs [MOC]

Copy of Importer and Exporter Registration
Copy of Managing Director or Director’s National ID Card
Original and Copy of list of board of directors
Company’s Special Power Letter and Copy of National ID Card (if a staff who represents the
company to do the procedures for application)
FL-11 ( Wholesale license for foreign liquor/alcohol) issued by General Administration
Department, Ministry of Home Affairs
Agreement contract as Sales Representative between local company and foreign company
which produces wine
To submit the documents of plan of distribution and place of storage
Specifications of Imported Wines
a) Percentage of Alcohol
b) Name of Product, Type, Brand, Composition, Packing Style
c) Validity period
d) Name of company/factory, address, country and year
e) Name and Address of Importer stated in FL-11 license, issued by General Administration
Department, Ministry of Home Affairs
f) Plan of distribution and condition of storage of imported wines
- 50,000 kyats for import registration fees
-Validity period of import registration is 1 year.
-To extend the import registration - 50,000 kyats (one time per year)
Penalty Fees
The import registration can be extended one month ahead.
Extension of the import registration after valid date, penalty fees shall be imposed as follow.

Between 3 to 6 months after valid date
15,000 kyats

20,000 kyats
Amendment of Details on Import Registration Card
Following documents shall be submitted along with the application of amending the details on
Import Registration Card
a) Original and Copy of approved letter of amending the details from Company Registration
Office
b) Application with company letter head
c) Company’s Special Power Letter and copy of National ID of company’s representative person
d) Copy of Import Registration Card
e) Copy of FL-11 license
Amendment fee is 1000 kyats per a number of amendments.

Taxation
-To pay the taxes according to the rule
Distribution and Sales
-To follow the rules and regulations from General Administration Department and city development
committee of relevant Regional Government as a condition for distribution and sales.

Rules and Regulations for Importers
a) Importation process have to be done by Import Registration Card’s Holder
b) Have to follow the rules and regulations, act and laws imposed by General Administration
Department of Ministry of Home Affairs.
c) Type of wine, percentage of alcohol and details of importer (Name, Registration No.,
Company’s Name, Company Address) shall de stated in English on the products.
d) Distribution can be made after sealing the label of Tax paid by Internal Revenue Department
on each and every bottle.
e) Stamping of tax shall be followed the rules by Internal Revenue Department
f) Update the stock ledger from time to time
g) Type and mark of wine which is already permitted to import by a company, can also be
permitted when another company applies for the same type and mark to import.
h) Rules made by relevant departments from time to time shall be followed.
i) Importation shall be made only by sea.
j) Percentage of Alcohol shall be respected.
k) Imported wine shall have at least 3 Years of age.
l) Country of Origin shall be stated.
Verification and Taking Action
-Verification on following the rules by responsible persons of relevant departments shall be accepted
-Any case of breaking the rules shall be taken action.
General
-Importation by the recommendation of the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism in the purpose of selling in
duty free shop and consuming in hotels will be continued to be permitted under the special
procedures imposed.
