Receptionist – Great Western Surgery 18 hours per week Monday 1300-1700, Tuesday 1300-1700, Wednesday 0800-1300, Friday 1330-1830 Receptionist duties • Greeting and directing patients and noting their arrival in the appointments system. • Making appointments and giving out appointment cards. • Accepting and returning forms for completion • Accepting payments and issuing receipts. • Accepting specimens and dealing with them according to current procedures. • Accepting, completing and sending out repeat prescriptions (after suitable training). • Answering the phone • Registering new patients • Entering patient information on the computer. • Dealing with queries from doctors, other staff, patients and outside agencies. • Scanning and filing medical records, letters and test results. • Opening post, sorting and passing to the relevant members of staff. • Posting of letters and parcels. • Photocopying records for solicitors. • Preparation of Chronic Disease Clinics in conjunction with the Practice Nurses Receptionist skills Experience of dealing with the public face-to-face Pleasant, professional, and articulate phone voice Hardworking, dynamic and enthusiastic Ability to multi-task and handle many incoming calls or patients at once Efficient and accurate data-entry skills Computer literacy and phone experience. Punctual and reliable. Capable of prioritising workload Flexible to cover holidays/sickness
