General orientation for new MS and certificate candidates. Review of student
handbook and policies.
Required for all MSIBS and certificate students. (1:30 to 4:30)
Orientation continues. Begins at 8:30 with continental breakfast. Presentation by
Dr. DC Rao, Director of Program. Lunch together at noon, provided by program.
(Half of class will go to Student Health Service at 12:00 for orientation and TB
testing, 2nd half at 12:30.) Required for all full time students.
Independence Day, national holiday. No classes.
Computing orientation and UNIX workshop. Required of all MSIBS and certificate
students. Strongly recommended for all other summer and fall class registrants.

M21-503 Statistical Computing with SAS® – Section 1 (7 days including
recommended Saturday session, Monday – Friday 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 5:00,
Saturday 10:00 to 4:00)
M21-515 Fundamentals of Genetic Epidemiology (10 days + one exam day Monday
–Friday 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 4:30. Exam on 7/31 from 9:00 to 12:00)
Primer in R (Tuesday 1:30 to 5:00 and Wednesday 9:00 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 5:00)
M21-550 Introduction to Bioinformatics (10 days + one exam day Monday – Friday
9:00 to 12:00 and 1:30 to 4:30. Exam 8/16 from 9:00 to 12:00)
Break for full-time MSIBS and certificate students. (A second session of M21-515
Statistical Computing with SAS® is offered during this time.)
Graduation ceremony for GEMS students (program which preceded MSIBS)
