I.
1. Ask the student of her favorite subject in school and inquire who her/his teacher is in
the subject.
a. What is your favorite subject in school? Who is your teacher in this subject?
His favorite subject is Math. His teacher is Ms. Theresa Menesis.
2. Let her/him describe how her/his teacher instructs the subject.
a. Describe how teacher A instructs/handles the subject?
Based on the interview I conducted to him, the teacher is somewhat
traditional. First the teacher discusses the lessons, present the formula and present
how to solve a problem. Then after her discussion, she gave exercises.
3. Make inquiries if the teacher uses instructional materials and how the students find
these instructional materials in facilitating their learning of the subject.
a. Does teacher A use instructional materials (flip charts, flash cards, diagrams,
realia, etc) in teaching?
He said the teacher did not use instructional material. But as I ask him
more, I found out that the teacher is traditional as she uses blackboard and
textbook only. I admit as a Math Major that in mathematics, the usage of
instructional material is minimal.
b. Are these materials helpful? Why?
Yes, because “makasabot ko ug dali”.
4. Find out if there are classes in their school that do not use instructional materials.
How do they find these classes (as in engaging, interesting, etc)?
a. Are there subjects that do not use instructional materials?
none
5. Finally, ask if they see if instructional materials are important for learning and
studying.
a. Are instructional materials important for studying? for learning?
Yes, instructional materials are important both for studying and learning. In
class it can arouse in interest and encourage us to be participative and active in
class. Also it really aid learning and make me easily understand the lesson.
b. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using such materials in
learning?
In my own opinion, the advantage of using such materials has a positive
effect as it increases Student’s Interest that will lead to meaningful learning. On the
other hand, what makes it advantage sometimes is the fact that is time consuming.

HIGH SCHOOL
I.
1. Ask the student of her favorite subject in school and inquire who her/his teacher is in
the subject.
a. What is your favorite subject in school? Who is your teacher in this subject?
My favorite subject is Math under the class of teacher Edna G. Galinada.
2. Let her/him describe how her/his teacher instructs the subject.
a. Describe how teacher A instructs/handles the subject?
Teacher Galinada uses Dynamic Learning Program appraoch in her
teaching. She started her class with activieties/ quizes. When we are doing doing it,
we immediately check our answers. After that, that’s the time teacher will discuss
the lesson and assess our discovers or independent derived solution or answers.
3. Make inquiries if the teacher uses instructional materials and how the students find
these instructional materials in facilitating their learning of the subject.
a. Does teacher A use instructional materials (flip charts, flash cards, diagrams,
realia, etc) in teaching?
Yes, depending on the lesson. The most common used by her are the
followin :
- Modules
- flash cards
- Sign tiles
- digrams
b. Are these materials helpful? Why?
Yes, because it help me learn more techniques in solving a problem and aid
better understanding of topics.
4. Find out if there are classes in their school that do not use instructional materials.
How do they find these classes (as in engaging, interesting, etc)?
a. Are there subjects that do not use instructional materials?
He said with a smile “MAPEH”.
b. How do you find these classes?
It’s okay for me since I can still catch up and understand his lessons in
Mapeh without using instructional materials. But based on my classmates
reaction, they really feel boring and some took it as an opportunity to sleep
in class.
c. What materials can the teacher explore and use in order to improve the
learning process? (for College students only)
5. Finally, ask if they see if instructional materials are important for learning and
studying.

COLLEGE
I.
1. Ask the student of her favorite subject in school and inquire who her/his teacher is in
the subject.
a. What is your favorite subject in school? Who is your teacher in this subject?
My favorite Subject is Biology, specifically Plant Morpho-Anatomy (Mrs. Anita
S. Mabao) and Human Anatomy and Physiology (Mr. Danilo Gualbeto). So, the
teachers handling these subjects are my favorites.
2. Let her/him describe how her/his teacher instructs the subject.
a. Describe how teacher A instructs/handles the subject?
Ms. Mabao is somewhat strict in handling classes. She gives quizzes every
day, basing on the previous lessons and the lesson to be tackled on that day. In
every instruction, she is not the one who’s supplying all the concepts/answers.
Instead, she gives Oral Quizes as we interact along with the discussion. She demand
s participation in all her students. We are just very few in our class, so we are really
given equal chances to speak up, so we have to study ahead.
Mr. Gualberto also uses the same technique. He is my lab Teacher and he is
more into demonstrations, taking videos of our demonstrations in naming of the
Different Body Regions and Parts of each of the Organ Systems of the body and
post it in our FB group for critiquing. Instead of us, drawing the parts of all the
specimens observed under the microscope, he let us take pictures of the specimens
and post it in Facebook together with its labeled parts. He is somewhat friendly and
lenient to us.
3. Make inquiries if the teacher uses instructional materials and how the students find
these instructional materials in facilitating their learning of the subject.

Ms. Mabao is in her prime years and admits that she is not technologically
advanced in using computers and DLP Projectors. So even though how big and
heavy, she used Over Head Projector and Transparencies while doing her
Classroom Instruction. She really used actual plant samples and specimens when
giving examples. If not really available, she would just let us see pictures of plants.
Mr. Gualberto is very much varied. He opened a Facebook group of our subject
and section. He uses videos and PowerPoint Presentations. Whenever he find
updated articles related on the topics, he would post it in our Facebook group and
ask us to do reaction or reflection paper. In our own Blood Samples viewed under
the microscope, he asked each one of us to label it using Microsoft Paint and post it
in our Facebook Group, stating the Blood type, Rh factor, and the Differential
Blood count of the Leucocytes. In the Organ Systems, we use Mock-ups wherein
there’s a human Model with all its Body Organ and Organ Systems. We usually
detach the Organs one by one, while naming and memorizing each part.
b. Are these materials helpful? Why?
Yes, because it helped us in comprehension, especially that Biology is really
a concrete subjects. So concrete visuals and actual specimens or objects would be
very helpful, since majority of today’s students are Visual Learners.
4. Find out if there are classes in their school that do not use instructional materials.
How do they find these classes (as in engaging, interesting, etc)?
a. Are there subjects that do not use instructional materials?
So far, in my 2nd Year here in XU after stopping school 10 years ago due to
financial constraints and early parenthood, I’ve took up only English 27-Term
Paper Writing w/ Business Writing , Math 10.2-Contemporary Math and Philo 60Philo of Education as my Minor Subjects; and Biology and Education major
Subjects. All Minor Subjects English, Math and Philo only use Chalk Board,
Photocopy of the Hand-outs used in the Discussion, and Books; unlike in Biology
and Education Subjects which uses Varied Instructional Materials.
b. How do you find these classes?
Honestly, I find these classes boring and the students feel very sleepy. Most
of my classmates would only chat with their seatmates. Even me, I would read and
study my notes in my other subjects’ quiz.
c. What materials can the teacher explore and use in order to improve the
learning process? (for College students only)
The teachers should use Varied Instructional Materials to ignite Student’s
Interest and participation. They may use Video Documentaries, Video Films
especially for CERAEs, PowerPoint Presentations, Activity Worksheets, Field
Exposures, Outreach Programs, Researches, Concept formation through Concept
Maps, Pantomime or Role Plays, Educational Games and Activities related to the
Topics, etc. Through these ways, the students will develop their Higher Order

Thinking skills, as they learn to explore and Develop their Varied Multiple
Intelligences and Varied Learning Styles.
5. Finally, ask if they see if instructional materials are important for learning and
studying.
a. Are instructional materials important for studying? for learning?
Yes, for me, Instructional Materials are important both for studying and
learning. Aside from engaging student’s participation, you can also ensure their
Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Evaluation and Synthesis of the
Lesson. It is in congruence to the Cone of Experience that the more engaging and
interesting the Learning Instruction using Varied Instructional Materials for the
students, the more Experiential Learning took place for them for more meaningful
Learning Experiences. Moreover, it is a proven fact that Instructional Materials
cater to the Varied Learning Styles of the Multiple Intelligences of Students.
b. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using such materials in
learning?
In my own opinion, the advantage of using such materials have a Positive
domino effect: First, it increases Student’s Interest, which will result to Increasing
Student’s participation, which will lead to Increasing Student’s Experiential
Learning, which will then effect to Meaningful Learning Experience. Meaningful
Learning Experience then causes the development of Cognitive, Affective and
Psychomotor Abilities of the Students, specifically Higher Order Skills, and
improving each of the student’s Multiple Intelligences.
The Disadvantages of using these materials is just very minute compared to
the profound effects it can give to the students. First, it may be hard for Prime-aged
teachers to explore on latest Technological Instructional Materials, which is very
much interesting to technologically advance and Internet Savvy students. Second, it
tends to be boring if using the same Instructional Material repetitively, so it is
imperative for Teachers to learn to use Varied Instructional Materials and should
be up to date with the latest Instructional Technologies to keep up with the demands
of learning of today’s Internet Savvy and Techie Students.
