It systematically investigates how arguments can be built, sustained or discarded in a defeasible reasoning process and the validity of the conclusions reached through resolutions of potential inconsistencies. Because of its simplicity and modularity compared to other reasoning approaches, AT has gaining importance for enhancing decision-making. This project aims to study the impact of defeasible reasoning and formal models of argumentation theory for supporting and enhancing decision-making. Multiple fields of application will be tested against state-of-the-art approaches: decision-making in health care, multi-agent systems, trust and the Web.
