 Entrants may submit up to one photo per category. Photos must be of high quality (1MB+). Winning photos will be enlarged and printed – please
use a high pixel count. Creativity through photo editing and enhancing is encouraged but not necessary.
 All photo submissions must also include a 100-300 word explanation on how your photo illustrates your personal/academic/career transition.
Entries will be judged both on the quality of the photo(s) and the accompanying essay.
 Photos must be original work and have been taken during the entrant’s study abroad program.
 Photos must be appropriate for posting on university materials. Obscene, provocative, or otherwise questionable content will not be considered.
 Entries are due on or before February 15, 2015 to the Study Abroad Office at sao-inquiries@illinois.edu. Entries received after the deadline will
not be eligible.
 Entries that fail to comply with the Entry Requirements will be disqualified.
 Please be mindful that there may be restrictions about taking photographs during certain cultural and/or religious events, so ask permission
before you start taking photos, especially of people you don’t know. Similarly, letting subjects know if you plan to post your photos on the
internet or circulate them publically in any other way is advisable, particularly when photographing children or individuals in private contexts.
Judging & Awards
A panel of students, staff, and community members will select the winning photographs. Prizes will be awarded to the winners in all 3 categories.
Entries will be announced and displayed in a local gallery during International Week (April 6-12, 2015) and published in the Illinois International
Review. Selections from each category will also be featured on the website for the Study Abroad Office (studyabroad.illinois.edu) and International
Programs and Studies (http://international.illinois.edu/about/index.html).
Ownership
Photographers retain the copyright of their photographs. But, by entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photograph(s)
displayed at all International Week events; on the Study Abroad Office (SAO), International Week (IW), and International Programs and Studies (IPS)
websites; and any other distribution materials without any fee or other form of compensation, and agree that Study Abroad Office and International
Programs and Studies may make and retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes.
Entries (including non-winning entries) may be selected for display or use in other SAO, IW, or IPS materials without permission from the

this competition is contested in any manner, SAO, IW, and IPS retain the discretion to disqualify that photograph and discontinue use of the
