Basin Electric Power Cooperative Co-op - Safety (Summer/Fall 2015) Generations Antelope Valley Station – Beulah, ND Seeking one temporary employee to assist with the development, maintenance, and communication of an effective safety program at the Antelope Valley Station (AVS) to prevent accidents, injuries, occupational illnesses and property damage in accordance with the safety policies and procedures of Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC). Requirements of this position are: Must be at least 18 years of age Student must be currently enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or related field Student must have completed at least two semesters of degree related courses Student must have knowledge of safety and loss prevention management, state and federal Occupational Health & Safety Association (OSHA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes, fire prevention, workers compensation compliance and basic industrial hygiene concepts Good oral and written communication skills Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook Responsibilities for this position: Review GHS standards; develop program and labeling system; develop communications for emergency response procedures; assist with collection of historical atmospheric data in confined spaces; resource for safety related questions; resource on the safety committee; maintain involvement in ND Worker Compensation cases. This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing, and use of keyboard/computer; and occasional crawling, pushing/pulling and lifting up to 50 pounds. Frequent working conditions include dirt/dust, vapors/fumes, extreme heat and cold, vibration and noise; and occasionally poor ventilation and electrical risks. This position must be respirator qualified. The incumbent will occasionally be required to work at heights up to 350 feet. Inspection and testing of boiler and environmental areas require work in confined spaces. This position requires good color vision, finger dexterity, ability to perform close work, and good hearing.
