RCM: The next regional meeting will be in Muskegon on Feb 3, 2013. My 44th birthday and
Super bowl Sunday. I am requesting to have 60.00 mailed to me for expenses for the trip. I will
give a report of regional meeting at next month's area meeting, on 2/16/2013.
In Loving Service, Susan S., you’re Saginaw Bay Area RCM
Secretary: Hello Family,
The December minutes were sent by email or US mail. The cost of printing was $19.00, postage
$18.20, and mailing envelops $26.49 and $4.66 for today agendas and GSR/home group reports
for a total of $68.15.
How are we addressing the Thumb home groups that were apart of our Area? Do they continue
to receive SABCANA minutes?
Sorry for the delay in getting the December minutes distributed.
Thanks for the opportunity to serve.
ILS, Mike M.
Treasurer: Our previous balance was $1,198.58 with a monthly income of $455.44. We had
reimbursements of $31.89 for total assets for the month of $487.33. Our monthly expenditures
were $115.77; this leaves us with an ending balance of $1,570.14 for December of 2012. Rent
was not paid for our December meeting. A detailed report will be included in the minutes.
No one attended the yearly audit. We started with $1,951.75. We had an income of $4,741.09
with reimbursements of $338.93, for total assets of $5,080.02. We had expenses of $5,441.63.
This leaves of with a balance of $1,570.14. The secretary expenses are more than normal related
to the printing of meeting lists. The prudent reserve from the previous Literature Chair has not
been returned at this time. I will be available during the February area to answer any questions.
Unfortunately, I could not be at area today because I have the flu.
I would like to thank everyone for allowing me to be of service.
In Loving Service, Tammy R
Subcommittee Reports
Ad hoc-Guidelines: The Ad hoc Guidelines Committee has completed the Draft Version of the
Area Guidelines. I have brought 35 copies of the Draft Version for GSR’s to take to their Home
Groups for review. I reported in my December report that a copy of the present Area Guidelines
would also be available today; however, since these should already be in your possession and are
available on our Area Web Site we saw no reason for the additional expense to Area. I would
like to thank Willard Y. for printing them and saving the Area approximately $45.00 and would
ask that he be reimbursed his cost for the printing.
It is our hope that you will take the time at your Home Group to review and provide input on
these proposed Area Guidelines. There has been some talk that if these Guidelines are approved
the Saginaw Bay Area Home Groups will no longer have a say or vote on decisions made at the
Area Service Committee Meeting. This is very far from the truth. Our Area Guidelines were
Area Minutes January 2013
Page 3
revised in the hopes that they will allow us to make decisions and conduct business more quickly
and smoothly without being stifled by rules. The first line under the section “Decision Making”
states; As a spiritual body, we try to reach all decisions by consensus. We believe that a loving
God’s will is expressed through our group conscience (2nd Tradition). If GSR’s feel that the item
of discussion is something that needs to be discussed with the members of their Home Group, a
vote could be taken to send it back with a 2/3 majority approval.
While your Home Groups are in the process of reviewing these proposed Area Guidelines, please
don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have. Take note that your Home Group
may need to schedule an additional one or two review meetings outside of your regularly
scheduled Group Conscience Meeting to complete the review.
ILS, Ad hoc Guideline Committee Chair, George S.
Activities: Next Committee meeting: January 20th at 4 p.m. at Tina’s house.
The Sanity Bash was a successful event. We had about 140 in attendance, awesome turn out! The
committee spent $323.96 and had an income of $1,016.00, leaving $692.04 for Area. WooHoo!
We have met weekly since last report, planning thru different events. There will be a Valentines
Dance February 16th at St Alban’s Church in Bay City and a mini MRCNA fundraiser which is a
spaghetti dinner and home group panel. Join us March 30th at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bay
City. After reimbursing prudent reserve from fundraiser we would like to use the profits to put
on an actual fundraiser which is Clean Stock II in June. Planning is going well, and we are
excited about these events. This has been an awesome journey.
In loving service, Tina G.
Literature: open
H&I: Mike W gave an oral report. He announced that Vanessa had resigned because of personal
reasons.
Public Relations: open
Retreat:
Scheduled Committee Meetings:
January 22, 2013 @ 6:00 pm Survival NA Group Meeting Location.
February 5, 2013 @ 6:00 pm Survival NA Group Meeting Location
Retreat Committee continues moving along at a very steady pace and we continue to stay on
target to reach our timeline goals. Registration flyer and Shirt flyer have been completed and
ready to be circulated among our Fellowship; a few copies are here for GSR’s to take with them
today. I also have copies for our RCM to take to the next Regional Meeting. The Registration
and Shirt flyers are available on our Area Web Site and on our Retreat Face Book Group Page. If
you are on Face Book and would like to be a member of this Face Book Group, please send me a
request to SBASCNA 27TH Annual Retreat.
Our first Card Party was a great success with approximately 30 in attendance. We had a
progressive euchre tournament which everyone seemed to enjoy. The party raised $245.17 for
the Financially Impaired to attend the Retreat. We still have one card party planned to raise
funds for the financially impaired, as well as a dance in March. Additional flyers for the card
party are here today, as well as Dance Flyers.
Fundraisers Planned:
Card Party - February 9th in Saginaw, flyer here…
Dance - March 16th in Bay City, flyer here…

Web servant: Dear Fellow NA members,
Area Minutes January 2013

This is my summary of what I have done with the website in the last month.
Meeting List updates: added the Journey Continues – Wednesday 9 a.m.
Misc: posted December ASC minutes.
ILS, Jason G.
Old Business:
1. Area Inventory. I have started the spread sheet of the Area Inventory and was expecting to
receive more completed Inventory Sheets from the December Area meeting but didn’t. If any
groups have completed inventory sheets today please forward them to me today. I will now use
the inventory sheets received and complete the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet of information will
be forwarded to the P&A Committee for review and recommendations to the area.
ILS, Area Inventory Project Chair, George S. More Inventories were gathered.
2. Area PO Box. Kim P check with the Post Office. It seems the name of the person who opened
the PO Box is no longer a trusted servant. George had information on how to change our
information at the Post Office.
New Business:
1. It was questioned how the 2013 Area Meeting Schedule was developed. Mike W. reported
what happen in December about scheduling today meeting. The Co-chair has made the
arrangements for the year.
2. Thumb Area. There was discussion about the Thumb Area receiving our Minutes and Area
information. It was suggested to send SBASCNA information to the Chair, Co-chair, and
Activity Chair.
3. The issue of Region purchasing Basic Texts for Public library was brought up for discussion.
It appears the real need would be in our prisons and jails. It was suggested that the White Book
would be better used.
Motion: that the MRSCNA purchase up to $1,000 bulk copies of the "Introductory Guide to
Narcotics Anonymous" for distribution to Area's H&I, or PR subcommittees to distribute to jails
and institutions in their Area
Intent: To reach addicts in the Michigan Region, and to provide literature to them.
Motion carried.
4. The need for Secretary next month. After some discussion, Mike agreed to be acting
Secretary for next month. But because of his MRCNA commitment can not accept this trusted
servant position. GSRs, bring this need to Fellowship.
Open Floor: George asked why our Area is not a part of the Regional Helpline phone system.
The RCM will be bringing information to the February meeting.
It was also announced that the Retreat registration is available on the Area website.
Adjourn and Close: It was motion by Mike W., seconded by Mike M., to adjourn the meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m. and closed in our usual manner.
Respectfully submitted in loving service, Mike M.
The next Area will be February 16th at 1:30 p.m. at St Alban’s Church in Bay City
