F0M 3114 Cns Pathology And Developmental Psychopathology 5 WEEKS Course description : This course introduces students to the common neurological, behavioural and muscular disorders, their aetiology, pathogenesis and pathology. They should understand the clinical pharmacology of drugs commonly used to treat these disorders and finally appreciate the role of procedures used for diagnosis of neurological, behavioural and muscular disorders diseases. Course Objectives : 4. Describe the pathology of common neurological, behavioral and muscular disorders. 5. To describe the etiology of abnormal human behavior. 6. Describe the clinical pharmacology of drugs commonly used in neurological, behavioral and muscular disorders. 7. To describe the common diagnostic procedures used in neurological, behavioral and muscular disorders and describe the findings. Content Outline/ Content: • Pathology/epidemiology of neurological and muscular and behavior • Behavior disorders • Pharmacological agents used in these disorders • Investigative procedure modalities used in these disorders • Hematological disorders: Anaemia, Hemoglobin’s, Porphyrins, Bleeding, coagulation and platelet disorders. Thromboembolic phenomena; leukemia and other leukocyte disorders, solid lymphoma. Haematinics; anticoagulant; fibrinolytic agents; antiplatelets drugs Expected outcomes By the end of this course students are expected to have been exposed to the: • Aetiology, pathogenesis, pathology, clinical features and epidemiology of neurological, behavioural, and muscular disorders. • They should have understood the clinical pharmacology of the drugs used to treat these disorders and know the investigative procedures used.
