CALL FOR PAPERS -ACT Health 9th Annual Allied Health Symposium-2016 All in the Mind? Foundations for Good Mental Health Wednesday 6th April 2016-12.00pm-5.00pm- Gandel Hall, National Gallery of Australia The aim of the annual ACT Health allied health symposium is to bring together our diverse allied health workforce from the clinical, education, research and management and leadership practice domains. Our gathering in a common place provides a forum at which ideas, visions, challenges, strategies and networks can be examined and shared. SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVE The objective of the 2016 Symposium is to provide an opportunity for allied health practitioners to reflect on and build their understanding of what good mental health looks and feels like both for themselves and consumers. To facilitate this objective, the Symposium program will be shaped by the contributions of both external keynote speakers and local allied health presenters ranging from clinicians through to experienced allied health researchers. SYMPOSIUM THEMES Mental health, healthy workplaces, wellness, wellbeing, resilience, healthy mind/healthy body, selfmanagement, strategies for managing stress, anxiety and depression, are all phrases that make up the contemporary health care lexicon-but how are they meaningfully reflected in our organisation? How do we as allied health practitioners demonstrate and reflect these at an individual and/or service level and what is the current evidence base for these making a difference? The 2016 Allied Health Symposium will bring together a range of external and local speakers to explore and challenge our perceptions of what it means for us as practitioners to have good mental health in the workplace, as well as present on innovative models for building and maintaining good menatal health for our clients, consumers and their families. Other in-scope themes: Impact of body image issues on health and wellbeing Innovative approaches in provision of services that support health and wellbeing Use of technology to support good mental health Promotion of health and wellbeing in the workplace Models of care that support and strengthen health and wellbeing in specific populations including people impacted by alcohol and drugs, chronic disease, crime, disability, homelessness Strengthening families Mindfulness in practice CALL FOR PAPERS-ACT Health 9th Annual Allied Health Symposium-2016 Make sure the theme of your paper relates to at least one of the Symposium themes.
