Howard B. Stroud Community Service Award Mr. Howard B. Stroud began his career in the Clarke County School District as a teacher at Athens High and Industrial School in 1956. He served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Lyons Junior High from 1963 to 1977, when he moved to the school district’s central office as middle school and high school coordinator. Mr. Stroud worked in a variety of roles at the central office, including acting superintendent and associate superintendent. Mr. Stroud held a bachelor's degree in psychology and education from Morehouse, received a master's in administration from Atlanta University, and did post-graduate study at the University of Georgia, Agnes Scott College, and Appalachian State University. He was named Teacher of the Year in 1960 and Morehouse College Alumnus of the Year in 1987. Fourth Street Elementary School was renamed for Mr. Stroud in 2007. Past Winners of the Howard B.
