On joint motion of all Councilmembers present, the following resolution was offered:
RESOLUTION NO.
A resolution authorizing the advertisement for sealed bids for
Fuel testing, Fuel tanks cleaning, and fuel cleaning at
various pump stations throughout the Parish, on an as
needed basis for a period of two years, in accordance with
specifications prepared by the Jefferson Parish Drainage
Department. (Parishwide)
WHEREAS, the Drainage Department has determined fuel tank and fuel testing
and cleaning is necessary to have pumping stations and backup generators operational
continuously without the risk of mechanical failure; and,
WHEREAS, the Drainage Department has many locations with fuel storage tanks
which store fuel for extended periods of time; and,
WHEREAS, fuel quality is reduced over time due to microbial growth, fungi,
water (from condensation), and other contaminates which if left untreated would cause
issues with clogged filters and fuel injectors, causing backup generators or pump drive
engines to operate poorly or totally fail to operate; and,
WHEREAS, all services under the terms of the contract shall be provided on an
as-needed basis; and there shall be no guarantee as to the amount of work to be given
within the terms of the two year contract
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Jefferson Parish Council, the
governing authority of said Parish:
SECTION 1. That the Purchasing Department be and is hereby authorized to
advertise for sealed bids for Fuel testing, Fuel tanks cleaning, and fuel cleaning at
various pump stations throughout the Parish, for a period of two years, in accordance
with specifications prepared by the Jefferson Parish Drainage Department.
SECTION 2. That in advertising, all the usual requirements as are provided in
regular Jefferson Parish advertising procedures be included in the advertisement, the
Bid Proposal Form and Specifications for said project.
SECTION 3. That the Chairman of the Jefferson Parish Council, or in his
absence, the Vice-Chairman, be and is hereby authorized to sign and approve any and
all documents necessary to implement this resolution.
The foregoing resolution having been submitted to a vote, the vote thereon was
