Values and objectives

Debaters will grow to be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled,
open-minded and reflective.
[Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, RiskTakers, Balanced, Reflective]
What are our aims and objectives of this proposal?
Aim: To create a culture of healthy argument and a spirit of questioning in the academy.
When we are asked to question and argue different perspectives of an issue we can learn to
think from a bird’s-eye view. We will learn to examine an issue from every angle and think
and argue logically. We will also learn to detect fallacies in various arguments. This is a
learning endeavor and we know that we will benefit from it as will this academy for its years
to come.
Who?
Raeesa and Reaa will head the debate. On a rotation basis we will have students participate
and if a student is disinterested he may choose not to debate. The audience is also an
important part of the debate; hence, it is also a form of participation. In a way, the entire
school will be involved, if not affected by the birth of The Debate Society.
When?
Debate Society meets will be held every weekend, on Saturday nights.
